Description:

HI Thanks for clicking here!

I have been out of the swap bot game for a bit and waiting for the right time to get back into the swing of things.

Waiting for inspiration.

Then I saw this movie Making Mail and its free to watch and its about making mail to send to others..connect and lift someones day!

So this brings me to this swap. Its a simple swap and its open to beginners as well as seasoned swap-bot-ers or people like me who have been away and looking to get back to saying 'hey there local postal worker -nice to see your face!'

This swap will be in 5 steps

  • watching a movie

  • answering questions in a letter

  • decorating the letter and envelope

  • puttin' a stamp on it and sending it away

  • possibly making a new buddy via the mail and swap-bot?

One. Watch the film Making Mail http://www.themakingcompany.com/makingmailfilm/

(its free and inspirational and was crowdfunded by like minded artsy mail enthusiasts like you and me)

Two. Write a letter to your partner answering some questions (and you can add some of your own flair the questions are just to break the ice)

a. Whats your name and where are you writing from

b. After watching Making Mail was there any particular mail-artist whose work you found interesting? why?

c. In all of your mail sending days what has been the most over the top or labor intensive package or letter you have sent?

d. What do you find fascinating about the relationship between mail and art

e. In this digital age, what keeps you sending mail?

f. Who would your dream pen pal be and why? (living, dead, historical, famous, etc -its YOUR dream pen pal just tell your partner who and why)

g. What is your favorite quality in a person?

h. What is a special talent or skill of yours?-\

I. (you choose what you want to say to conclude your letter :)

Three. Bust out the ART

Cut, paste, glue, doodle, draw, sticker, stamp, make your envelope, deco an already made one, just make some mail-art! It just has to be something you would want to receive and something you are proud to send out. (you know how ratings are..a BLAH envelope in a mail art challenge might get a BLAH rating)

Four. You get ONE partner so that means take it to the post office and send it away to that ONE person! Do it on time Do it because you are excited about what you wrote and made and cant wait for them to get it!

Five.WAIT

...till you get your letter! Who knows maybe you like their decorating job, maybe their responses to their questions resonate, you might have a new pen pal or maybe you just had an awesome swap experience! Don't forget to rate etc.

Nitty Gritty

-New members welcome because we all gotta start somewhere. That said- its a bummer to get flaked on, so, if you cant make the commitment wait for a swap you can pull through on.

  • As long as you dont have a scathing profile thats filled with low ratings (I will check) you can join

  • The letter/envelope can be a standard size envelope that a forever stamp in the U.S. can send (but if you wanna get creative, knock yourself out to make your partner flutter with joy!)

  • Making the swap regional in the US for now, to see how it goes

Im kind of rusty so if there was anything I missed- let me know and Ill iron that out.

Happy swapping!

I'm not in the US, so I can't take part in this swap, but just wanted to say thanks for making me discover this great film! Have fun, swap-botters!
