Description:

There are so many ideas out there for crafts. From genius ideas on envelopes to inchies to knitting and crochet. But sometimes you don't know how to do something. Sometimes you've never tried. Sometimes you don't know if you'll be good at it. This is a safe, fun swap to try something NEW. Only join this swap if a.) you want to do something out of your comfort zone and b.) you are willing to receive someone's experiment.

The idea here is to give us all a safe space to try something new. To break out of our usual creative routines and delve into uncharted territories. If you're anything like me, you're well aware that this could lead to disaster and that's half the fun.

For this swap you will have one partner who is ready to get your first attempt at inchies. You may send as many or as few as you wish but you cannot be an experienced engineer of inchies as that might destroy someone's confidence and joy. And do you really want to be responsible for doing that? No! You can make themed inchies, random inchies, please send no more than twelve. Each member will make and send their first try in an attempt to try something new. I know that I haven't tried because I'm mortified to join an inchies swap and have mine come out horribly. Here, no one cares because we're all new to it!

There are some rules for this swamp... all in accordance with regular swap-bot rules but please review and do not join unless you can live within them:

  1. If the person sends you their attempt(s) within the time frame they must be rated a 5 as the rules are that sending the requested swap by the date is 5-worthy. If you send 6 and only receive 1 that's okay - it's sender's choice and face it, if they are horrible 1 might be more than enough :)

  2. Include with your swap a brief note introducing yourself, talking about the inchie(s) you crafted and maybe how long you've been thinking about inchies.

  3. It's sender's choice but it's always nice if you can somehow incorporate your partner's likes/dislikes. This is NOT a requirement to get a five.

  4. Please PM me your mailing address if you are participating and are comfortable doing so.

  5. You must have no recent unexplained 3's and no 1's unless there are extenuating circumstances (just message me, I'm fair). Your rating should not be lower than a 4.75. Feel free to message me - especially newbies. But if I let you in and you flake, expect to be banned from future swaps.

  6. I'm keeping this USA only this time around but if international swappers like the idea and people like the swap, I will also run an international one.

  7. Newbies welcome with a filled out profile and all 5's.

  8. I reserve the right to ban anyone who does not fit the description.

I thought this up on my own but if a similar swap exists and the owner feels that they don't want someone stealing their thunder just let me know - and my apologies in advance.

Pretty sure as host addresses are available to you!

As swap host you will be able to see everyone's address after partners are assigned.

As a newbie to all crafting, thank you! I would love to see swaps like this for other things too, handmade cards, ATCs, decos

Actually you can see the addresses before they are assigned so you can verify that the players are from the USA> Keep in mind you have to screen out anyone who joins that isnt from the USA, and sometimes they do join by accident. I will sign up so you can see my address and see what we are all talking about.

Clearly I'm new - thanks for the info on addresses. I am planning on hosting these for a few different crafts I'd like to try so please watch for similar swaps. An inchie is a 1"X1" piece of art using any media you wish. I found some cardstock backings to use as a starting point. I hope to make mine this weekend - should be interesting!!

Can a little bit of the embellishment stick out beyond the one inch square?

tlemon4 01/21/2015 #

Can I sign up if it's my second go @ inchies? :)

NancyKz 01/22/2015 #

@Suesuzieq it's fine to stick out a little. The goal here is to try something new so we don't seek perfection. Try to get it 1x1 as much as you can but have fun and enjoy. @tlemon4 sure! But no judgement for us virgins!!

tlemon4 01/22/2015 #

Thank you , Believe me no judgement here, I have a hard time with tiny things ,lol ,I love how you listed this swap, there are a few swaps I would like to try but don't because of skill level. So this is a gr8 idea ,Thank you for hosting

I forgot to mention that I'll angel if anyone flakes. But no one's gonna flake, right?? :)
