My Writing Buddy #2

This is designed as a long-term pen pal swap. You’ll be paired with one partner.

Buy or get a small notebook, something that will be fairly inexpensive to mail back and forth. In the notebook, write a letter to your writing buddy about your writing experiences, goals, challenges, etc. The idea is to develop an on-going relationship with a fellow writer. By sending the same notebook back and forth, you will remember what you have written to each other.

(Keep in mind, that with one assigned partner, you will actually be communicating with two people: the person you send to and the person you receive a notebook from.

The first round of this swap was launched in Spring 2010. My partner @patty and I have continued our notebook/letter exchange. Thank you Patty for a great run! In the next letter (or maybe two) we will have filled the notebook. We have been writing back and forth to each other since May 2010!! A remarkable feat.

The parameters of what you discuss and or do will be between you and your partner. Some suggestions to keep the letters going:

• Ways to overcome writing weaknesses

• Writing challenges

• Book recommendations and/or reviews

• Writing prompts to try

• Articles or Web sites to share

• Discussions on POV, setting, characterization, etc.

• Journaling your day/week/month.
