Description:

The March 2015 Fandom in a Mini Bag swap is Dr. Seuss.

Step 1: Please list in the comments your favorite characters, books, movies, or any other preference you may have.

Step 2: After partners are assigned, check to see what your partner likes. You can follow-up with a message if you need to know more. Then scrounge up, buy, and/or create items that fit in a bag. Your bag must contain at least 5 different types of items although more is certainly encouraged. (PLEASE try to make it look full). Different types of items means 5 ATCs, 3 pins, 2 postcards would be 10 items but only 3 different types. The swap requirement is for 5 different types in a bag.

Some ideas of themed items: stickers, ATCs, postcards, toys/action figures, comics, note cards, pins/buttons, magnets, jewelry, trading cards, legal music CDs, charms, ornaments, bookmarks, address labels, plushies/stuffies, promo stills/autograph cards, fanfic drabbles/ficlets, etc.

More specific ideas: your own Seuss-related prose, a Cat in the Hat hat, recipe for green eggs & ham, environmental tips from the Lorax, kites from Thing 1 & Thing 2, fox socks, a present for the Grinch, etc.

Be sure to check your partner's profile so you don't send anything he or she might be allergic to.

Step 3: Put the items in a ziplock-type bag. Size: 1 quart (AT LEAST 8.5inches by 7 inches or 21.5cm by 18cm). You can decorate the bag or incorporate the bag into something (mount it or sew something around it). If you want to make or buy a bag instead of using a ziplock plastic one, that's fine as well, but it should be at least a quart in size. All items you gather or create should fit into the bag (if a couple are too big, that's fine).

Assemble your bags during the month of March and please send by the deadline (March 31)

Group rating rules apply. NO FLAKING ALLOWED! Flakers will be forced to speak in verse for the rest of their lives.

I love anything themed Thing 1 and Thing 2 (I have a LiveJournal that uses them as the theme).

When I was a kid, I memorized the Cat in the Hat for fun (I still remember nearly all of it). So I have a soft spot for the cat.

One First, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish is my other favorite. But I love the Lorax and Dr. Seuss's style of rhyming and art in general. At Universal Studios in FL, I made my friend's kids go on Seuss rides with me so I didn't have to be that adult who was riding them alone. LOL So I definitely love the Seussian world. Have fun with this swap, coming up with interesting/crazy/silly things for it!

Oh, I'm not so fond of the Grinch; I like the story all right (and his dog) but I don't like the "You're a Mean One Mr. Grinch" song at all.

I love Cat in the Hat (read it to my son EVERY night), the Lorax, Horton Hears a Who, but my favorite is the part in Fox in Socks with the Beetle Battle. We have most of the books that are the popular ones.

I don't use stickers, but I do collect some ATCs in my favorite themes. If my partner sews, I would love some Teesha Moore patches with the characters on them (ask me if you don't know what they are and are interested in making them). I love plushies, dotee dolls, bags, little figures, hoopla, but most of all, anything handmade!

(I'm putting this up, just in case I get time to join) We especially love:

  • The sneetches
  • the Lorax --- and his truffala trees
  • there's a wocket in my pocket *Horton hears a who

I'd love a zip pouch if you sew, a plush or figure of any of the Seuss critters (doesn't have to be main characters, I love them all), and anything else you like to make.....I loooove handmade stuff!

I love Cat in the Hat and Thing 1 and Thing 2. The Grinch is a childhood favorite and I've got a special affection for Max since I had a dog that bore a striking resemblance to him :) Honestly, I love pretty much anything Seuss and all of his characters, so there's really no way to go wrong.

I'd love any plushies or figurines and anything handmade is always wonderful and greatly appreciated. It's always so interesting to see how creative everyone can be, so I'm open to just about anything.

I love Dr. Seuss in almost any form. I was never as fond of the Cat in the Hat as anything else - he always struck me as someone who would cause trouble at the drop of a hat without thinking of the consequences. But all the rest is great. My favorite characters are: Horton (in both of his books - favorite is Egg); Sam I Am (Green Eggs & Ham); Thidwick (the big-hearted moose; and Marco (the boy who saw it all on Mulberry Street - what a really fun story!). I grew up looking forward to the Grinch (the original cartoon - I'm not as fond of the newer movie, although it is done well), so another favorite, but down the list from the others. I like just about anything, but creative stuff is the best!

@BluGinhm LOL About the Cat in the Hat. I ALWAYS sided more with the fish. He seemed so sensible. But at least the Cat always picks up his play things when he's done so the kids don't get in trouble.
