There are many foods that are prohibited by customs in almost every country. Chocolate and candy are usually fine but tea can have herbs in it that are prohibited and so might something savory or other things people might choose. You might either decide to change this to your own country or ne more specific about the foods. The latter may be hard tho as each country is different. I know in Canada most fruits and veg, all meat and milk products and some grains are prohibited. Usa is similar.

I was in one of these swaps before and I loved it! I'm from the USA, so I would love to have a partner from a different country. I love trying new things from different countries. Can't wait for this swap!

@thebragal : I'm surprised by your message because I've seen a lot of International Food Swap and nothing was specified. My girlfriend did one of them and everything went perfectly. I'm sure people will manage to send the right things according to their country's customs.

@AllyZoldos : Thank you for your message ! I'm really thrilled that someone is excited about this swap :)

Hi, just joined this site and have signed up for this swap. Can someone please explain what I have to do next !? Do I get given someone to write to or do I have to find someone! Thanks 😊

@beckilew1980 : Once you joined the swap, you have nothing to do until the sign up date when the partners will be assigned. You will receive a mail with the like to your partner's profile and address.

I really wanted to do this one but when i tried to figure out shipping costs the postal service was telling me $80.00 or more dollars for a package i guesstimated like 4 lbs.. is that way off? I dropped out of fear i couldnt afford to do it. what is typical international shipping costs?

Shortbuslove 03/26/2015 #

@masinmegan : I'm not sure about the shipping costs in the US, because I'm in France, but I'm pretty sure that's not that expensive. To give you an exemple, 4lbs in France for an international destination costs about 15 euros. And 4lbs is probably the maximum weight for this package. It's your choice to see if you're able to spend that much of money in a swap :)

In Austria it costs around 15 to 18 Euros to ship a parcel like this around the world.
