Pockets Full of Particular Pieces

For this swap, you will create a pocket letter that includes some specific things. The colors and theme are up to you, but your pocket letter must include these 6 items:

  • Something soft
  • Something shiny
  • Something to write on
  • Something upcycled (reused for something other than its intended purpose)
  • Something you wouldn’t expect to find in a pocket letter (Please keep this clean, safe and legal.)
  • A letter to your partner introducing yourself and, if you wish, briefly explaining the contents of the pocket letter.

The things you choose to fulfill each of these categories are completely up to your interpretation. Be creative and have fun! But….there is no double counting. That means that you can’t include a cotton ball and claim that it’s soft, it’s unexpected, and you can write on it. No sir. These must be five different items.

The rules:

  • Use a clear, 9-pocket page
  • Fill each of the pockets (at least the front--you don't have to include a surprise in every pocket)
  • Include each of the 6 items listed above
  • Mail it to your partner by the deadline
  • Have fun!

The themes and colors are sender’s choice, but it’s nice to check your partner’s profile for likes and dislikes.

Thanks, and happy swapping!

This is interesting but my budget is USA postage! Is it possiable to have a USA only?

Not in this group, Cocoa. Sorry - it's an international group. 😊

Hi Cocoa, as Chelsea replied, all the swaps in this group are international. Keep in mind that pocket letters don't have to cost a lot in postage if they're not too think or heavy. I recently mailed one to France for around $2.00, which I think is pretty reasonable. :)

Question about upcycled objects -- would clothespins/paperclips that have been made into bookmarks/magnets etc count or have those become too standard as standard items themselves. If not could you give a few suggestions?

Hi Violethare,

It's totally open to your interpretation, so if you would consider it upcycled, then it is.
