Description:

Tim Holtz's words about his June tag: “a great thing about creativity is that is can be as simple or as complex as you want it to be.  you can take an idea and adapt it however you choose.  for this month’s tag i wanted to create a plaid background, basic right?  there was [were—subject verb agreement error makes my English prof ears hurt! Sorry, it's just reflex!] many ideas spinning in my head to achieve this including stamps, stencils, embossing folders, inks, paints, papers, etc. the list could go on and on.  that’s when you just have to pick one and go for it which is exactly what i did and see what happens.  i had such fun with this distressed plaid technique and i think you will too, and the best part is it provides a backdrop for any type of project, and can be created in any color palette you choose – let’s get to it…t!m “

And so he creates his DIY custom Distress Ink pad to use with his Stripes stencil to create his own custom striped background for the tag. I learned how to create a custom ink pad back in his Creative Chemistry class in 2012, but have yet to try it. At that time, you use custom foam you cut yourself rather than foam already in a DIY Distress Ink pad! I don't have the stripes stencil either, so I don't know yet if I will try this, or it would be much simpler to just use your own piece of plaid paper! Then go from there. I also don't have his die for cutting what we all know is a Starbucks drink container, but I think I can draw something that will work about as well. SO PLEASE DON'T LET THESE SUPPLIES AND TECHNIQUES KEEP YOU FROM MAKING THIS TAG! I do have a template for a steaming mug of coffee which I think would be a fine replacement of the carry out coup. I can email a copy of that template if you contact me with you email address.

As usual, you will make your version of Tim's tag for ONE partner. Be certain to make the tag enough like his as possible or use it as a jump start for your own creativity for this June tag. Your tag MUST have enough similarity to Tim's that your partner can easily tell it is a version of the official June tag. You will find the instructions for the JUNE 2015 tag here: CLICK HERE FOR 12 Tags of 2015--June .

1) So, 1 tag, sent to 1 partner. 2) SIGN UP by June 13.. 3) MAIL by June 30. 4) INCLUDE your Swap-Bot name, the date, and name of swap on back of the tag. 5) BE SURE to package your tag securely for its tough journey through the postal services. Use packaging tape, etc. to do this. . Do your BEST work with the supplies you have to come close to his tag. DO NOT feel you MUST BUY supplies exactly as he lists them. I do not want that to keep people from joining these monthly tag swaps. Substitute, jury-rig , and use creativity to make good use of what supplies you DO have to come close by giving it your best efforts. Tim Holtz does not not use stickers, so we will not use stickers on our tags. He does use some rub-ons and a limited amount of, and very few, alpha stickers and things such as tags, tickets, etc. In all other ways, stickers are not allowed for these tags. PLEASE DO PM me with any questions about this swap or ideas for other swaps that are not tags.
