This is a craft, so you must actually alter the spool in some way....please do not send a spool with only ribbon or thread wrapped on it.....please make a craft. I'd like to try this swap but as the spool will be too thick to count as a letter it will cost me $25 to send international (might be a nasty surprise for my partner as well!). If there are any Australians out there who want to try this as a private swap please message me. Cheers

No you can use any type of spool. Even the little plastic ones, can be turned in to something amazing. I received a spool necklace before (here on swap-bot) and it is awesome.
