Description:

USA only swap, to keep postage manageable. Feel free to host an International version!

Zentangle, or Tangling, is a drawing form of meditation in which one focuses attention on the one line being drawn right then. It is always fun, and there is no such thing as a mistake. Beginning tanglers are welcome, as are more experienced tanglers. This will be a series of swaps.

For this swap, you will make a Deco book of at least six (6) pages. the book should be large enough to draw a 3 1/2" x 3 1/2" tangle on each page, with a bit of room left for signature and contact information. My books are 4" x 4 1/2 " You can start making your books now. Pages can be stapled, sewn, tied with string or yarn. I make mine by cutting 9x12 paper into 4" x 9" strips, folding three over, making three little holes along the fold, and tying with string or whatever is convenient. For more information on making deco books try: http://www.ehow.com/how7458496make-deco-book.html

Then, do a Tangle of standard size, 3 1/2" x 3 1/2", on the front. Put your name, address and swap-bot name on the BACK COVER, so the last person to tangle in it can return it to you. Use as many or as few patterns as you like. It's your space. Work in black and white with a bit of shading, or white and black. You may work on colored tiles. Shade or not, color or not, it's up to you!

If this is completely new to you, tanglepatterns.com and zentangle.com are great sources. There are some really wonderful books available, if you want to start learning. Try your library.

PLEASE don't join if you can't complete the swap. If life happens and you are late, please notify your assigned partner and me! I will angel if need be. I hope nobody makes that necessary.

I am going to allow Zentangle 'newbies'. You will still need to have been rated for at least 5 swaps, either Type 2 and/or Type 3

You must have a filled out profile. I will be looking at each one. Minimum rating will be 4.95 I will remove anyone from the swap who has unresolved 1s, or 3s. If you don't meet the swap requirements, message me and perhaps we can do a private swap.

Once everyone has marked SENT, I will post another round.

I found your profile very interesting to read, especially since I am part of your generation! Zentangles are new to me and I have only done a few, very simle patterns. I've never made a "Deco Book", but your description makes it seem doable. It seems like the Deco Book makes the round of several people. Does each person tangle one page only or more? You can see that I'm considering swap. Just not sure yet...

I am considering joining this swap but not clear on a few things. I make a deco book of six pages or more - I put a Zentangle design on cover - I put my address and name info on back of booklet. After that I am not sure I understand if I make another Zentangle on another page or many pages etc... before i send it off to another person? I am somewhat new to Zentangling but love it and would enjoy giving this a try but first I want to fully understand the swap. Thanks for your help:)

@starmouse I was interested in joing but it doesn't seem like the questions above are being answered and I wanted to know more info before signing up.

I sent StarMouse a PM. She's having to do some serious therapy for a crushed ankle so maybe she will be able to come here and give us more info.

I am by no means the host, but I thought I'd help out with some of the questions since she seems to be dealing with some medical issues at the moment.

@StarMouse I hope you don't mind. <3

@Ilene when a Deco Book is sent around, generally each person it goes to decorates a single page and then passes it on. That way when it is sent back to the original owner, they have a book filled with art of all different artists. :)

@rarjones This is more like a round-robin than a one time swap. So you are correct, you tangle your cover and put your info on the back of the book, but leave all the pages in between blank for other people to tangle on as it gets passed around. :)

So for this round, we're basically setting up our Deco Books. You'll send the 'blank' book on to your partner. They will then tangle on one page and wait for the next round to send it on to yet another artist to tangle on page 2.

This is a really good explanation of Deco Books:

@Dakotaann Thanks for answering the questions. I am having medical issues and have only been answering my swap-bot messages. I've had three messages, different questions. I appreciate your pitching in and answering.

A tangle deco book is en route to my partner. Enjoy.
