Description:

This is an international swap. Newbies welcome, if you have a complete profile.

For this swap, you will make TWO envie-books, sending one to each of TWO partners.

How to make one: * You will need four envies, with the top flaps decorated. They can be the same, or different.

  • You will need a piece of one-sided card stock, cut to the size of one of your envies, with the top flap down. (For me, that's 6.75" x 4.50")

  • Glue the top flap down, to the inside of the envie, leaving the bottom pocket open.

  • Fold your envies in half, side to side, with the pockets to the inside.

  • You will glue each half-side, to the next envie's half-side, forming "pages",each page with a pocket, with a decorated inside.

  • Either make stickers, or write on the pockets, items that be useful to a paper-crafter, like stickers, address labels, swap cards, tiny note paper, etc.

leave a few of the pages blank, so your swap partners can add some of their own.

Most important, have FUN with this! If you have any questions, just ask, or send me a message.

Some have asked about somehow "sealing" the center of the envie, so that one item does not cross over into the other pocket half. ( sounds like kids in the backseat! Haha!)

If you want to, go ahead, but I've had several of these over the years, and nothing has ever slid over.

Could you do a 3-hole pamphlet stitch along inside fold?

gramsbuttonbox 07/25/2015 #

You sure could. That would be Great! I do want people to express their own artistic talent with these.

Where do you glue? Along each envie's center fold?

heidiling 07/26/2015 #

Can you by any chance recommend a "how to" video? I would love to joun, but I am not sure that I understand the directions correctly:/

To answer your question, you put glue on the entire half envie, then press it into the next envie,

For how-Tos, if you go to YouTube, and search for "envelope. Book", several options come up...

These are much more complicated than this swap requires...

Another option, I have a new website, that will be up and running next week, and will post one there also. If necessary, I will extend the dates on this swap, to give you all a chance to make these. (I will say, ..that the ones in YouTube are a lot more complicated, and work-intensive than this one should be).

Please check it out, but also know that these envies should not become so overwhelming!

Good luck, and most important, please have FUN with these!

Please to the "sounds like kids in the back seat"

FinallyMarried 07/31/2015 #

Lol not please...hehe

gramsbuttonbox 08/ 1/2015 #

finallyMarried: to answer that. And it goes back to when cars were invented! Usually the brother ('specially if he's the "older" brother) , would "draw" an imaginary line on the backseat, down the middle (or the. Middle according to him!) 😉!

Then say! "MOM, she's on MY side!"

And you're right! It IS heehee!

mine is done and a its beautiful! such a nice project!

benevolentghost 08/ 4/2015 #

I love this idea! Is it okay to use plain envelopes and decorate the flaps yourself? If so, I am definitely joining!

benevolentghost 08/ 4/2015 #

Actually, going to pick up some envelopes because I need some anyway... can the entire envelope be decorated as long as the labels are readable, or just the flap? Sorry for the nitpicky questions, just don't want to let someone down in a labor-intensive swap like this

Benevolentghost...I answered you by message, & don't want anyone to think I'd ignore the great question...it sounds like you're putting together a lovely book.

I'm so happy with the interest this swap has caused, and look forward to seeing what my partner has created!

Most important, I hope you've had FUN with this project!

Took my swaps to the store...they won't go out today (Sunday), but first thing Monday.

Then they'll be making their way to Chicago and Australia. I hope you like the little book, and hope everyone had fun making these little cuties!

Thank. You for joining my swap! Gramsbuttonbox
