Description:

So many swaps this time of year celebrate snow and all things winter-but for this swap...

...let’s send cards that celebrate the holidays-down under style.

For many of us in the southern hemisphere, this time of year is all about holidays, the beach, the outdoors, flies, and slapping some steaks on the barbie (BBQ). Christmas is almost always hot-in fact, my family spends Christmas day splashing around in the pool and eating a seafood buffet on the back veranda. I’m sure even Santa strips off his winter coat and takes to the waves (in his down time that is).

In this swap you will be sending your partner a home-made summer themed Christmas/holiday card.

The rules:

  1. You will have 1 partner in this swap.

  2. You will make a handmade holiday/Christmas greeting card with a Summer theme.

  3. In your greeting card, write a few lines about one of these two topics : Your favourite Christmas/holiday tradition OR What you love/miss most about summer.

  4. Send on time (this is a requirement-if you do not send on time you risk being rated a 3).

  5. Rate your partners

The finer details:

  • Don’t forget to include the swap name and your user name

  • Please read your partner’s profile and be especially sensitive about religious themes. Try to keep the card generic and light.

  • There is no absolute size requirement for the card (I’m not going to give measurements here)-but it should be a fairly standard size and it should be made of card-not paper.

  • Decorate your card in any medium you like (hand drawn, collaged, painted, etc)-but it should be made with care. Do not sticker slap. Please send something you’d like to receive.

  • You may decorate your envelope-but it is not a requirement.

This swap is open to all-both above and below the equator-but please be aware that your card MUST be summer themed-regardless of where your or your partner lives.

Experienced crafters/artists, please note: if you join this swap, you may be paired with someone much less experienced.

Please rate your partners ASAP and include a comment with some feedback.

If you receive a handmade Christmas/holiday greeting card with a summer theme and a few lines about one of the two topics above, please rate a 5-of course hearts are up to you.

Allow a reasonable amount of time for international postage-but communicate with me (the host) or your partner if there are any problems.

I will angel this swap.

Happy swapping everyone :)

What up AussieCass?
Almost "Down Under" - Farther South FL Greetings!
Yes, sunshine, white sand beaches, blue sky, white clouds, palm trees, Hello Flamingos! Dolphins swimming by on ocean waves, its "Winter" in Florida! Fun!
Have this swap on watch as I search for suitable FL Christmas greeting cards. Hope I can join.

Greetings northerner! It is true how far 'down' depends on your perspective. Of course you're welcome to join-the more the merrier 😃

You got it right! Even though you may view Florida & me as "northerner," rest of USA, except Hawaii, US Virgin Islands, view Florida as as farthest down - south continuous vacation destination. They can wear shorts, short sleeves, flip flops, bathing suit as long as its covered up nearly year 'round. Pop on a Hoodie & long jeans when it gets cold for a few weeks. Roses bloom here in Nov. Jasmine bushes bloom in Dec. And the oranges ripen on orange trees Jan. - Feb.
My search continues for "Christmas, Florida Style Cards."

Look what's new - I joined the swap!
Yes, 'cause I found Florida - Christmas themed cards!
Large cards showing 2 Pink Flamingos with small Santa hats in landscape with beach, palm trees,...oh, I don't want to spoil the surprise!

Yes, I know it is for handmade Summer - Christmas card but I couldn't help myself to buy commercially made cards to also send.

and it will be freezing here in upper New York state next week. I'll have to put my thinking cap on for this one that is for sure.
