The February Full Moon is the 22nd. This is know as the Snow Moon. I am sure some of us have had enough of the snow (East Coast USA SiStars) and there are those of us welcoming it, either way, this is the time when the heaviest snow falls. You will have 3 SiStars to send comments to with a written message about this Full Moon or images related to the Snow Moon. "Hunting becomes very difficult, and so some Native American tribes called this the Hunger Moon. Other Native American tribes called this Moon the “Shoulder to Shoulder Around the Fire Moon†(Wishram Native Americans), the “No Snow in the Trails Moon†(Zuni Native Americans), and the “Bone Moon†(Cherokee Native Americans). The Bone Moon meant that there was so little food that people gnawed on bones and ate bone marrow soup." Borrowed from http://www.almanac.com/content/snow-moon-february-full-moon-phases Photo is called Moon over Mt Hood at Dawn. Mt Hood is the Mountain in Portland Oregon that is a beacon of light with its Glacier. Enjoy! |
