Welcome to the Goddess Spirit Doll Swap!

This swap is for one Goddess/spirit doll to one partner. This swap is to encourage everyone who is interested to make a Goddess/spirit doll.

I am listing this as a safe swap for beginners to give this a try. I’m going to set a longer signup date to give the opportunity to experiment and I am available to answer questions anytime.

If you are a more experienced crafter and worry about receiving a doll made by a beginner this might not be the swap for you.

Please make and accept your swapped dolls in the spirit of learning and sharing.

There are as many ways to make these dolls as there are artists to create them. Since this is the first one I won't set a theme, but I will give some guidelines as follows.

Your doll needs to be 3D, so nothing flat like paper or cardboard. Your doll should measure 3-6 inches tall, she may be taller but keep in mind that you will probably be receiving a smaller doll.

Your doll should have a face, although the features of eyes, nose and mouth are not required - some Goddess dolls are done with blank faces or objects that represent a face without the features drawn in such as, carbons, round mirrors, flat stones etc.

Many dolls are made from fabric then beaded or embellished in a variety of ways, however this swap does not require that your doll be made from fabric or if made from fabric sewn. Many very successful dolls are made from clay, knit/crochet, found or altered objects including fashion dolls. Items from nature can also be worked into Goddess dolls including embellished sticks, stones/crystals, driftwood, gourds, and bark etc.

In addition to the swap information please include a note expressing your inspiration for your doll and perhaps a bit about yourself.

If you follow my pinterest from my profile page there should be a board with Goddess Dolls. They are not all mine, but are some various creations that I collected up to show as examples.

Since this is a group swap I won't post specific ratings in order to participate, however I will check the profiles to make sure everyone is in good standing before I assign partners.

The dolls on your Pinterest board look incredible, and I LOVE that middle doll in the swap pic! Thanks for the long sign-up date~ I'm gonna give this a go before committing to the swap. I'm glad you'll be available for any help I may need =D

This looks like fun. I am kind of a lurker in this group. I can't remember who invited me. I'm not really a witch or wicca (sorry if I am not using terms right?), but very open to the idea of magic and love as a power. I think I might join this one. :)

@FeltPrincess I creeped on profiles and then invited wild women who I felt would fit in, regardless of religion or lifestyle <3 We're not necessarily a witchy group, but a lot of our latest swaps have been themed around that due to popular demand.

Thanks @KuriPie - if you mean the lower middle I received her in a swap... also the one in the middle back was sent to me in a swap... she is a wrap doll and one of my favorites... there is also a whole album of Goddess dolls on my flickr I think all made by me, but all very similiar so not as interesting in terms of different ways to approach the dolls...

Would love to have you @FeltPrincess I am a witchy type pagan for about 30 of my 62 years, but you are right that magic and love as energy is magic and love just the same!

Oh my what gorgeous spirit dolls are on your Pinterest site....so creative. And to see your own up there with others from around the world is wonderful. There is so much for us to be inspired by and the thought of our postbox awaiting soon....I cannot wait to complete mine and hope the magic of creating it comes through to the recipient too. Thanks for inspiring my action @Hag53

Yes, thanks @Hag53 for sharing your pinterest boards - all are lovely, but the dolls are wonderful to see the varied nature of a spirit doll. Hope I do this justice!

I make Goddess dolls and sell them in my Etsy shop. They have been one of my best sellers on FB too. I love making them and have designed different size and shape patterns. I will be joining this swap today. :)

I'm a little scared I'm not crafty enough for this... But life's about trying new things :) so I'm going to give it a shot!

I'm almost done with the one I am making. Just a bit more to sew up, stuff and hot glue some last embellishments to her.
