This is something new for me... DIY envelopes!

I am very new at this type of craft, but I am learning! I'd love to learn with you all, so for this swap you will make your own mailing envelope, decorate and mail it. That simple. Include a flat surprise inside! This can be a letter, notecard, stickers, an ATC, literally anything flat to bring a smile to your partner's face.

  • 1 flat surprise

  • 1 envelope made and decorated by you to carry your surprise to your partner!

  • There is no size requirement.

  • Make sure to include the swap name and your username on the envelope.

This is going to be a regional USA swap to keep postage low. The envelopes can be made form card stock, sturdy paper, or decorative paper. Sender's choice. The point of this swap is to try creating something new. A low stress dip into a new field of art. If you don't meet the rating requirements, but would like to participate feel free to contact me about a private swap opportunity! No unexplained 1's or 3's. No 1's owed to active members.

Sounds exciting, I certainly will. (:

Do we have to include a seperate decorated envie for the partner to use?

LadyGuenevere 02/26/2016 #

I'm new to trying my hand at this too! Love the swap idea but don't meet the rating requirement..perhaps we can do a private swap? Hugs, *~ Alayna

@CraftyMommaonaBudget You don't need to include a separate envelope unless you want to as an extra.

@LG I am absolutely up to a private swap! I will send you a pm when I get a spare moment.

Hi there! I am a newbie and I would love to be part of this swap but at the moment I already sign up for 5 swap. I would be interested to do private swap if someone interested. Thank you.

Oh sorry i mis read i thought this swap was to decorate the envie not make it, i am not sure how to do it Γ°ΕΈΛœβ€’ sorry i have to pass

Just a friendly reminder that the minimum mailing size for a "letter" with the USPS is 3.5" x 5", and the max is 6 1/8" x 11.5". Square envelopes (which need extra postage!) are minimum 5" x 5". :)

As for the ratio of length to height, USPS says it's non-machinable (and therefore needs extra postage) if the "length divided by height is less than 1.3 or more than 2.5". That's always a fun one. ;)

Looks like a fun swap! I love making envies.

Thank you @user2637 for posting the appropriate guidelines! I will add those to the description and file them away for the future. My lack of sizing requirements was in response to some past questions about the style of envelope needed. I appreciate the help!

@CraftyMonnaonaBUDGET I'm sorry you'll have to skip out on this one. Feel free to send me a message about making envelopes and maybe we can get together on the next swap!

@Sweettea Once you are no longer in 5 feel free to contact me about private swaps, or perhaps join again once your limit is lifted.

I have made Envies out of last years Calendar pages...some of the Calendars are made with heavier paper... and the pictures are really Nice..

PurpleKionna 03/ 5/2016 #

@BlueberryLady I agree- calendar envelopes are beautiful.

Just bear with me everyone- partners will be posted either very later on the 6th or very early on the 7th. It's going to take me some time to sort through everyone's profile to provide a safe swap. (:
