Girlie Large Matchbox Swap

~I have a question.........

what does one do with the matchboxes one receives?

I have seen these swaps, and looked at the pics on flikr, and I just wouldn't know what to do with all the matchboxes and items that are inside that I got....

do people usually display them, do you use the items inside?????

an inquiring mind want't to know!!!

I use mine to hold stamps or other small trinkets. I display them too.

Use them to send to other swaps you join? Is that allowed? It's a great way to reuse/recycle and share colorful idea with others.

You may recycle ones from previous swaps as long they meet the requirments: girlie theme and large matchbox.

I take it we're allowed to add buttons and charms and things like that?

Yes you can add whatever you like to your matchboxes as long it has a girlie theme:) Buttons, lace, ribbon, brads, beads, The sky is the limit on what you can think of..

I would love to know from the person I get to swap with what their favorite color is: Mine is pink, hot pinks. The reason is that if I pick out polish or glosses, I don\'t want to send purple if red is their favorite color, so whoever I get, let me know!! Thank you!! I can\'t wait!

What is the dimensions of a large matchbox. I was thinking of making instead since I don\'t have one. Thanks!

Sorry I did not respond to comments sooner. Been a busy mama...

If you are tossing in beads, brads, stickers, buttons, embellishments it is fine if it is from your stash. The new stuff relates to lipstick, nailpolish, cosmetics, that kind of stuff.

The size of the matchbox I am using is: about five inches long, 3 inches wide, and 1 1/2 inches tall.

matchboxes I found here in Italy are a little bit smaller than the one you described, but I asket and it was for 250 matches...anyway I am going to fullfill it so much it will almost explode!

my fave colors are purple, pink and black...

Hi! I just signed up for this swap. I'm not into girly things but my Emma (aged 11) is. We will be filling our send box together.

Could whoever gets me as a partner do a box geared to Emma? She loves makeup, hairclips, anything pink or purple (no surprise there!) - really anything shiny, frilly, fluffy, glossy. She has already started putting together a "real" makeup kit and shuns the play stuff (dollar store stuff for adults or Avon sample lipsticks, etc. is fine).

I hope that's not too much instruction, I want my partner to have fun and not feel too contricted!

Beegirl-It is fine if your matchbox is a bit smaller.

It is okay if it is not a matchbox too. If it is about the same size as a large matchbox.

This is a really fun idea.

that is my thought too I have a huge jar of matches my husband thinks I'm nuts

I know - we can dip the match tips in wax and have a handmade waterproof camping matches swap, matches enclosed in decorated waterproof handsewn pouches, of course!
