Description:

I have heard so many people say that they visited some art gallery or museum and viewed some famous artist's work, only to come away saying, "You call THAT art? Why, my six year old can do that!" Or, they look at some artist's work that is so realistic looking that the viewer says "wouldn't it just be simpler to take a photo?" This tells us that not all art is going to be well received, even if it is made with a great deal of skill. Maybe the art that you don't find exciting is what is often called "outsider art" or "lowbrow art." Maybe it is called "folk art" or "primitive art." Maybe it is something that is lauded as being "high art" but it just leaves you feeling flatter than a pancake. It could be the work of one of the old masters, but it doesn't do a thing for you. It could be something that just seems silly or juvenile. But, someone must have thought it had value as art because they made a postcard of it, right? Maybe your partner will like it even if you don't. I like a wide variety of art forms, but I have a number of art postcards in my collection that I don't send to swap partners because I think they will get the kind of reaction described above. So, what is the solution? Why, it is to host a swap just for these types of postcards, of course! :-)

Swap details: you will send 1 naked (stamped and written) postcard to 3 partners (for a total of 3 cards) depicting some sort of artwork that just doesn't interest you or that you haven't felt good about sending along to anyone else. Write your user ID and the swap name on the postcard and also write something about why you don't like the art depicted on the card or why you like it but think others won't.

You may use modern or vintage cards as long as they have not been used previously. No hand-made cards, but cards made commercially by Zazzle or Redbubble are okay to use.

I will check profiles before assigning partners and drop anyone who looks hinky. Newbies with well filled out profiles will be allowed to join, otherwise a rating of 4.97 is required to join with no recent unexplained 1 or 3 ratings.
