Inky the octopus is our new hero -- so let's evade the day to day tedium of existence by making mail art with some ink wash techniques. Whether you build up a picture slowly with diluted washes that dry between new ones, or use a more spontaneous wet-on-wet strategy, ink, water and a brush can be a lot of fun, even without tentacles! Here are a few more tutorials: dry brush and ink wash with Wil Bosbyshell; ink wash painting demo with okyay666; and Jerome Royer's abstract painting with India Ink. There are many other tutorials out there, also books in the library, etc., about this low-cost and fun technique for self-expression and escape. One Inky Wash mail art item of any kind (postcard, ATC, paper hat, folded up paper octopus, etc) featuring an Inky Escape (octopus or other sort of escape, including a mental escape) to one lucky swap partner. Bon Voyage! I will Inky all unsent swaps. Image is an ink wash octopus by Brandon Webb (Tumblr). |
