Description:

Let’s put some transparent layers in our art.

Instructions for making a mail art PC, minimum size 4” x 6”: 1. Find at least two things that are mostly transparent.
2. Add some type of image or mark or pattern to it.
3. Use this transparent layer on top of another layer.
4. Make sure part of that bottom layer shows through your transparent layers.
5. You may use several transparent layers if you want, but the minimum requirement is to use two, (minimum for all total layers = three).

Things you could use for a transparent layer: - an actual transparency - tissue paper - tracing paper - deli paper - the plastic window from a food packing box (like a pasta box) - the window from a security envelope - vellum - waxed paper - clear contact paper - packing tape - cellophane - candy wrapper - plastic bag - page protector

Ways you could add marks/images to your transparent layer: - run it through a printer or photocopier - stamp it with rubber stamps - stamp it with found objects - write or draw on it - paint on it - do a packing tape image / transfer - use something that already has a pattern on it (as long as it's partially transparent) like printed tissue paper, or one layer of a patterned napkin - you get the idea, don't you?

The idea is to add at least three physical layers together somewhere on your PC (the two transparent layers don’t have to cover the entire PC, just part of it). The images on the transparent layers will give your piece a wonderful depth.

Have fun!

Please say something fun to your fellow swapper, and note your technique/s used. Write the name on the swap.

Send the PC NAKED. Use good adhesives to hold your items on the PC (ModPodge, etc.)

I just did this in the MA group, but wanted more practice with y'all :D. Those of you who joined there, feel free to join again here :D, as it is open to our entire, international, group. See you in the mail!
