Description:

Let's see if someone will be interested in this - I hope so! :)

You will take 9 pieces of sturdy paper. They have to be something between the size of an ATC and a postcard. Then you will decorate each paper on BOTH sides - the theme is Mermaids (and Mermen!). You can use anything you like, nice papers, fabrics, embellishments, ribbons, let your imagination go wild! And definitely don't just slap on a sticker! The sides of the papers don't have to be straight - they can be cut, ripped, etc. whatever will fit your artsy mermaid cards!

Once you're done with decorating you will cut a small hole into the LEFT UPPER side of every card, maybe secure it with something or pull a small ring through it and THEN you'll put all the cards onto a keyring. You can always add more decoration onto the keyring as well, like some ribbons or pendants - you don't have to though. --> UPDATE: If you have ideas for another kind of binding that will result in a neat booklet, that's ok. Just make sure you create a booklet, self-made. :)

Here are the rules:

  • A rating of at least 4.5

  • At last 8 sent out swaps and no recent no sends. If you're having trouble with a swap but can explain - please contact me.

  • You will have ONE swap partner.

  • Please post HERE if you prefer your booklet to be of a cute kind (think Walt Disney for example) OR if you'd prefer it to be a little more on the serious side (think fantasy artwork or the picture I've posted here - that's John William Waterford by the way :)). I will update your preferances here.

  • INTERNATIONAL

Sorry I had to drop this swap. I love mermaids... but I have new commitments I have to meet that are unexpected. Thank you and I hope to join in if this one comes around again! Best- Ali

serious

I am really looking forward to this swap.I really love mermaids. This is a fantastic swap idea and will be lots of fun.

marmot 10/20/2008 #

I would love to join this swap if only it wasn't being all put on a ring. I wish other bindings were an option. looks fun though, good luck!

marmot - I left you a message. Other bindings are ok, too, but they must make the cards into a book and be nice. :) not just cellotape or something like that.

marmot 10/23/2008 #

Yay! thank you for updating the binding requirements, now I can do a sewn binding. :D

and I'd prefer serious mermaids as well

jcat 10/23/2008 #

i perfer serious and fantasty mermaids. Also i would like it to just be a book. So i could put it on display with my other mermaid collections thanks i hope that doesn't sound picky.

tinnuwen 10/24/2008 #

welcome to both of you, marmot and jcat! :)

@jcat it's ok, just be aware that not everyone might know how to do a real binding for a self-made book. I for example definitely haven't got the things to make one like that. Should I get you as my swap-partner I would probably losely sew the pages together so they can be turned. I just wanted to point this out so you're not disappointed if you don't receive a perfect book as in perfect binding.

Starryangel 10/24/2008 #

I like more serious and fantasy mermaids, but any sort of variety would be exciting.

VintageGal 10/24/2008 #

I'd like more serious/fantasy artwork mermaids. This sounds like so much fun!

Jenae 10/25/2008 #

I would like to include that although i do know how to bind a book,i plan to use a combination of fabric and paper.I would be happy to punch 3 holes and put ribbon through.I donot want to have to sew it.

I also don't mind mine being on rings.I would like to display them that way.

sabashii 10/25/2008 #

♥ for mermaids! I like serious and cute, especially Japanese mermaids and from all kinds of cultures.

jcat 11/22/2008 #
