Description:

Create a one ring journal for your partner that collects and uses the magpie treasures you collect over the course of a week.

A one ring journal is a collection of pages with a front and back cover, all attached using a single book ring. The covers should be at least card stock weight and the pages within can be made of all sorts of paper. For purposes of this swap:

  • Covers should measure between 3” x 5” and 4” x 6” inches.
  • Minimum 8 pages, made of found papers, embellished front and back. Basically, one page per day with a page leftover for whatever. Suggestions: postcards, greeting cards, doilies, tags, playing cards, etc.
  • Minimum 3 magpie treasures per page. Suggestions: labels, tags, receipts, junk mail excerpts, scraps of fabric-jewelry-papers-security envelopes-ribbon, cancelled stamps, postmarks, stamped images, buttons, beads, stickers, whatnots.
  • Minimum 1 dangly goodie. Suggestions: beads, bells, pompons.
  • Minimum 1 pocket containing at least one treasure.

Minimums are just that. I suspect that most magpies will have collected more than six such treasures each day, hence the extra page.

Suggestions are just that, and not an all inclusive list. Resist hoarding treasures for yourself and let your journal truly shine.

I don't set a minimum rating requirement, but I do check profiles. If you have negative, unexplained stuff including ratings, comments and drama it's best that you contact me first. I will angel, but don't flake. Flaking will have an adverse effect on your swap-bot privileges, at minimum. If you have questions about the requirements, clear them up before joining.

This will have to be USA only, but I'd be happy to host a modified international version if there is sufficient interest.

Would a square 4x4, 5x5, or 6x6 be acceptable?

midwestkiwi 11/16/2016 #

Thanks for asking. I was thinking that mailing in a 6x9 envie wouldn't be astronomical and lots of "found papers" come in 3x5 or 4x6.

I wouldn't care if I received a square one as described containing at least as many square inches of stuff, but that comparison was a mathematical stretch for me, and some partners might feel that a 4x4 or 5x5 is too short. So, communicate with your partner if you hope to adjust the requirements.

I do plan to host this sort of swap regularly, a square requirement would make a great variation!

What a fabulous fun swap, I hope that you have another one after the Holidays.
