Description:

An Altered Children's Book. Round Robin. Double page spreads. Mixed media. Roughly 3 week turnaround. Themes as follows (along the lines of a scavenger hunt. You must include these items in some way, be creative); Round 1: - a tree, circles, yellow, a 'cat', a hand-drawn element Round 2: - water, book page, string, orange, a zentangle element Round 3: - wavy lines, something metallic, a feather, green, something hidden Round 4: - a stencil, a human figure/person, texture, a leaf, red

I hope these 'themes' help those of us that need a starting point. You'll also have the owners guidelines to help you with a style.

Take a Ladybird or Little Golden Book or equivalent, at least 5 double page spreads. Decide if you want a particular theme or style for your book and note that inside the front cover along with your name, SB name, email address, mailing address and the name of the swap. Also let your swap partners know if you have specific things you do NOT want in your book/journal. . No bulky 3D elements as it can make postage difficult. Small pockets, ribbons etc are fine.

Include a note to your partner about how you created your spread.

Please ask if you have a question

I have the most gorgeous cat that Lily did for me on an early journal. The best gifting a gal new to art journaling could ever have wanted. So inspired me to be far more braver, now I don't hold back. Thank you my friend.

So once we have recieved book and decorated 1 spread, I guess that's a double page.. We then send it back to owner or we wait to next round and send to next partner? Also what sort of ' owner guidelines' should we put for example? Can you paint in the journal as well? For example yellow, could you paint the yellow on the pages? Thanks

double page =1 spread- each round send to assigned partner each round Have your name and address in the front - see Mizlilyroos description in the swap. It's mixed media how or where you apply the yellow in round 1 is up to you. Mizlilyroo I hope you don't mind me replying to Artbysonya's query.

Artbysonya, thanks for the question. We each start with our own book that we have done the first double-page spread in. In round one we send this to our partner. In Round 2 we each do a double page spread,( following the guidelines) in the book we have received in Round 1. We forward this to our partner for Round 2. Owner guidelines; For example I have a theme for my book that I would like artists to follow if they can (as well as incorporating the scavenger hunt items for the Round) Another member might say in their guidelines "Please do not use stickers" or "No pictures of spiders please" or "Can you include a little blue on each page of my book". Mostly people are not specific but sometimes people are. You can draw, paint, collage, use tape, texture, fabric, ribbon, stencils. You could paint the eyes of the cat yellow and that would meet the requirement or ,yes, paint the pages yellow.
