Description:

Make a 4 page flip book and decorate it with a Mermaid theme.

Once the flip book is put together you will then decorate it fully as well as fill the pockets with items from your stash that your partner will like. CHECK YOUR PARTNERS PROFILE FOR DECORATING AND FILLING IDEAS.

**** You can decorate however you like. Use paint, stamps, paper, embellishments whatever you want to use to make it beautiful for your partner.

**** Ideas of what to fit into the pockets; stationery, paper ephemera, vintage ephemera, paper clips, small snacks/tea, washi tape samples, stickers, embellishments, ATC's, handmade items, smash supplies, pretty magazine cut outs, quotes, questions/lists, small images/photographs, quotes, twine/ribbon, beads, pretty paper scraps/paper bits, card supplies, craft supplies, tags, doilies, rubber stamped images, etc... Ideas are endless.

.............. DON'T USE STAPLES OR CLEAR TAPE THAT YOU CAN SEE WHEN DECORATING AS THE GIRL IN THE VIDEO DOES. It unattractive and messy looking. And if your partner does this then rate them a 3 for not following swap rules............

Below is a tutorial for how to make a flip book for anyone that doesn't know how to make envelope flip books........

I'd never heard of these before. This looks really cute and fun!

If you don't use tape or staples what do we use? I haven't looked at video yet but thought I would ask since someone else may want to know..

LunaMoody 02/19/2017 #

wolviechick121......They are super fun and easy to do. I hope you will join the swap.

You can use washi tape.Decorative tape is fine. Just not clear tape that is used in a way that you can see it. It looks tacky. As for staples. I just don't like to see staples on art work. Though it seems to be a "thing" these days.

samjowers 02/19/2017 #

tacky glue?

LunaMoody 02/20/2017 #

Glue is fine to use

If I don't join this one, please host it again sometime! I hate that there are 11 people watching and no one has joined yet, though!! haha. We'll see how it does here in the next few days. Good luck!! I will absolutely be making one over Spring Break (I'm a teacher, so I get breaks, too. Yippee!!) just so I can at least practice it. If I end up liking how it turns out enough, maybe I'll use it for a swap. =D

This is a new craft to me but I already have my four envelopes put together as shown in the video. There are quite a lot of digital mermaid theme scrapbook papers and die cuts available on Etsy that can be printed out as needed. This is just too much fun to miss. I hope more of the watchers will give it a try.

Is there a suggested envelope size for these? I'm looking to buy some brown envelopes like in the tutorial video ('cause how stinkin' cute!!!). But I don't know what size I should get.

wolviechick121 02/21/2017 #

I really really really want to join, but I would feel more comfortable using my Spring Break time to dedicate to this a little better. The quarter is a bit crazy for me right now since we're doing ceramics in all of my K-12 classes. I get home EXHAUSTED at the end of the day. haha. Spring Break is March 20-24 for me, so maybe we could bump the send date? Ehhh?? Ehhh???? ;) If not, I'll join the next one (which I hope there is).

LindaRuthie 02/23/2017 #

If the send by date got pushed back, I wouldn't mind. Gives me more time to make this wonderful. I hope there's not a specific envelope size, because I already started with the 'note card' size I had. They are about 4"x6".
@wolviechick121 if you don't get to do this swap, I'd be happy to one-on-one swap with you.

wolviechick121 02/26/2017 #

I'll keep that in mind. =D

I bought some 5x7" envelopes, so I'll use those once I find some time to work on this (again, probably not until Spring Break (March 20-24 for me)).

LunaMoody 03/ 2/2017 #

Any size envelope is fine as long as it is not to small

wolviechick121 03/ 2/2017 #

Woohoo! Date changes! =D I'm in!!

LunaMoody 03/ 5/2017 #

Size 4 by 6 is great

wolviechick121 03/ 5/2017 #

Yeah I just got some 5x7 envelopes in and I'm like... ooh. Those are kind of big. I'm going to go see what Michaels and Hobby Lobby have tomorrow for 4x7, otherwise I'll order more envelopes (or heck... make some)... if they don't have what I have pictured in my head. =P

wolviechick121 03/ 5/2017 #

4x6*

JudalineZ 03/13/2017 #

if you host it again in future I will be for sure joining as I will be out of town this Friday till at the end of this month.

wolviechick121 03/23/2017 #

Aagh! I always hate being the last person to send. But rest assured, @georgiafae You will get yours on time! ;) I'm just experimenting with a bunch of different things before I commit to putting it on yours. haha. The base is done.... decor is mostly picked out. Just trying a few more tricky things before I attach and send! ;)
