Description:

We haven’t had an ATC swap for awhile .

For this swap you will make 2 ATCs for your partner. ( 2 for the postage cost of one ) ......Your ATCs don’t have to be complimentary

  1. Glue down your chosen image ( one off the computer is fine ) —I use gel medium

2.You can paint your background at this stage extending it out from the image —matching the colour of your image then Add collage pieces from printed papers, book pages, tissue paper, paper serviette etc . This is where I love to use those lovely paper serviettes.

  1. OR … When you have glued down your pieces a layer of gel medium, clear gesso or fixative spray can be applied. This will seal and protect paper elements from tearing ( especially tissue ) when painting . I used fixative spray on the ATC shown.

  2. Using matching colours of paint ( I use acrylic ) blend your collage pieces and image together so that the image doesn’t look just stuck on.

  3. Complete your ATC with appropriate embellishment such as stamping , pen work or glued on elements... And sturdy backing—if it can be bent it’s not sturdy.

Any queries at all please ask

This is a fun technique , I hope you will join.

The lass in your ATC is very much like my own grandmother in 1917 approx. She was having her confirmation picture taken in Panama. You have inspired me yet again Catherine. Thank you.
