Description:

For this swap, you're going to create some stickers for your partner by drawing (or painting) on address labels!

Label details:

  • You can use large address labels (2" x 3") or small ones (~2.5" x 1").
  • If you're using large address labels, make 5 stickers.
  • If you're using small address labels, make 10 stickers.
  • You can use a mix of large and small labels, but 1 large label = 2 small labels.
  • You can cut your stickers into shapes if you like, but keep them approximately the same size as the original label.
  • Alternatively, if you want to make smaller stickers, you can cut up your labels, as long as you make approximately the same "amount" of stickers. Eg, if you cut a large address label into 3, those 3 stickers would count as 1 large address label.
  • Leave the label on the plastic backing - don't stick the sticker to anything.

Art details:

  • Make sure to put effort into your stickers - don't just draw a star or heart and call it done.
  • You can draw or paint - if you use paint, make sure you can still peel the sticker off.
  • Printed digital art is fine, as long as it's your own art - no printing photos or someone else's art!
  • Get creative - make stickers you wouldn't be able to find at a dollar store!
  • Don't make multiples - each sticker should be unique.

Mail your stickers with a card or piece of cardstock to keep them safe in transit, and include a friendly note to your partner.

Before making your stickers, be sure to check your partner's profile in case they have themes they dislike - don't send cat stickers to someone who hates cats. If you have themes you particularly like, add them as a comment below to give your partner some ideas! You don't need to stick to your partner's themes, but hopefully it will give you an idea of what they like.

To join, you need to have a filled-out profile, and no unexplained or recent (2017) 3s or 1s. Rated swappers need a 4.96 to join. Newbies are welcome, but I'll be a bit stricter about what "filled out profile" means. I'll angel if necessary, but please only join this swap if you're going to participate! Make sure to rate your partners when you receive your stickers. (Anyone flaking or failing to rate will be banned from my future swaps - if you've been flaked on, or your partner fails to rate you, please let me know.) If you're late sending your cards, make sure to communicate with your partner.

For general questions about swapping, the Help Page is your best bet, but if you have questions about this swap, ask away!

I have actual photo sticker paper. Can I use that instead of address labels?

zilliah 04/25/2017 #

Fancy! Yup, that's fine, as long as you make approximately the same "amount" of sticker :)

Is stamping mixed in with the drawn art okay, too?

theevidenceisme 04/27/2017 #

Thank you!

zilliah 04/27/2017 #

Stamping is fine as long as the main focus of the sticker is hand-drawn/painted. Eg, if I had a fish stamp, making a sticker with a mermaid and some fish friends would be good, but making a sticker that was just the fish would not. Make sense?

Sazza 04/27/2017 #

Makes perfect sense, thank you! :D

It sounds like abstract painted stickers would not be okay then? I couldn't tell from the description/comments. Thanks!

zilliah 04/28/2017 #

Sure, abstracts are ok, as long as you've done some hand-drawing or painting :) (The only exception would be if you wanted to go the Malevich route - no stickers that are just shapes :P)
