I like the idea. But my 6yo, who started school this summer, is still learning the alphabet. So he is not able to write a whole letter by himself. And five letters is really a lot for a child to write.

I'm in. I hope you won't cancel the swap if you do not get the desired 7 participants! just for info : My daughter is 6. Her name is Shreyasi Singh. Indian school system pushes reading & writing TOO early, but a positive of THAT is that she is letter-ready! & she's very eager, so I don't mind 5 partners. However, she is JUST 6. So, a 9 year old might find her "letter" too kiddy... But @ToujoursMoi is right. Maybe you can reduce the no. of partners. Maybe you can allow a parent to type for the kid :) Maybe you can allow a "drawn & coloured" letter. Whatever you decide, please DO HOLD the swap, it's a lovely idea!

Our daughter Mira has alredy started to write a letter, she is in! Mira is 8 years old. She will also add a coloured page I guess, because she always sees me send en receive swaps.... only a letter is not what she thinks is a swap, it needs something more, LOL.

My daughter is Audrey, she's 8. She loves to write, may take her some time to do letters to 5 other people though. She has been asking me about pen pal stuff but have never been in touch with anyone in her age group, neat idea!

For myself, I have an intro letter saved that's all about me that I print off and send for the first letter. If I get a reply, then I write more personal letters by hand. I find writing a million intro letters to be really boring. Especially since not everyone writes back.

So, I think I will do the same for my 8 year old. She will tell me about herself and I will type it out for her as she speaks. We will print off the 5 letters and send. If any child is interested in keeping her as a penfriend and writes back, then she'll hand write her responses from then on. Otherwise, it'll be like homework writing 5 into letters and I know my daughter will lose interest quickly writing the same letter 5 times.

Elyse is VERY excited.

My daughter is 8 1/2, she loves soccer and karate and princesses and animals. She’s very silly and loves making new friends. Heraes is Presley and you can address the letter to her attention ( same last name)

Any chance we can get an extension on the due date for this until the end of the month? My daughter Audrey swears she wants to hand write each single letter but shes also been handed a school poetry project in which she has to memorize a 16 lined poem & say it to the class so all her focus & most of her free time has been on that the past couple of weeks. She has mailed out 1 letter so far & has another started, the names of everyone are posted on her note board. I suggested her & I type up a general letter for everyone but "no mom I want to write my own letters" lol
