Decorated tote swap

Excited! Quick question—are you thinking paint only or are other types of embellishments ok (patches..buttons..rhinestones)?

I was just thinking paint on mine but it would be TOTALLY fine for you to check with the other people as you paint their bags.

I like all kinds of embellishments!

Is drawing with textil markers and painting ok?

I'm happy with a free-for-all on my bag, just FYI. Any kind of creativity you want to use on your quadrant. :)

I'm happy for anything really, but please nobody put buttons on my tote! I have a ridiculous phobia of buttons and I will have to ask my boyfriend to cut them off!

Oh I love buttons haha! I will probably (??) just use paint or something but I am happy for anyone to do whatever they like on mine so No Limits Here. Is anyone going to send a theme or color scheme they'd love? (I'm not planning to but... I'm a little lost with the whole world open to me!!!) Or do we check profiles for ideas? Or just go crazy and do whatever?

I wanted it to be as open as possible. As much as initially I said "painted" I really don't mind what goes on them. Now, if there's something as specific as "phobia of buttons" (or I hate pink) PLEASE include a note with your bag so that people can try their best to accommodate.

I’m happy with whatever you choose to decorate my tote with - buttons, rhinestones, paint, fabric, embroidery etc, it’s all good.

When do we send our own tote bag out. I’m waiting on mine to arrive from amazon but will see if I can find another one if we need to send them out soon.

I'll be assigning partners tomorrow. Once you have your first partner I would like the bags to get in the mail within a week or so.

When do we actually rate our partners? After the first exchange or once we get our bags back?

In the final end, you only get one rating for this swap even though you paint 8 times. I wasn't sure how else to work it seeing as partners are assigned automatically with swapbot and I can't guarantee that you'd get a different partner if I ran this 8 times over.

Please note: Partners have been assigned. Please send your blank tote bag to the send to partner you've been assigned by swapbot. When you send a bag please email me and let me know. When you receive a bag please email me and let me know. Please try to send your bag in the next 2 weeks. The send by date on the swap is for the completion of the swap NOT for the completion of the first send.

I will assign all other partners as we go. I will be sending out emails regularly updating.

Could we put an ongoing note in our totes. So that everyone gets her tote back with a short note from every participant with it? I would love to have that, so if no one else likes this, please put some words about your part on my bag on the accompanying card. Thank you.

Oooh, @meeltje57 I like that idea! I did the same.

For future mailings, you could pair us up, and we set up a private swap between the two... each person would be in two swaps at a time, one to send out the painted bag, another to receive a bag and paint it... one person would be rated in each swap for mailing a painted bag out, the other would be rated simply for receiving (or for rating once received?) We did this once for an art journal round robin just to keep the accountability there. I don't mind if you don't want to do this... it's only a suggestion :)

Should we "sign our work" (our one quarter artwork) in some inconspicuous way?

Don't know about you guys, but I am so thrilled to be in this swap. Only did 2 so far and am over the moon already. Think of it, this swap goes on for a long while and we got to work on every bag and see the beautiful artwork of the other participants. Can't wait to receive my third bag and work on it. I love it !!!

I lieu of a group email which I don't know how to do, I will leave this message- I have painted and sent on totes for Lawchick and Holly. I do not currently have a tote, waiting for the next one, and no delay in processing it is foreseen. I'm currently waiting for confirmation that ccap in Winnipeg has received my package. Hope all is going well for everyone else!
