Description:

Creative Writing Prompt Swap.

This swap is to help creative writers over their worst obstacle: Writer's Block.

In the last two lines of Keats' "Ode on a Grecian Urn", he says:

'Beauty is truth, truth beauty, --that is all Ye know on earth, and all ye need to know.'

Send your partner something beautiful from nature. Could be a flower, a stone, a leaf, feather . . . something you find aesthetically pleasing and inspiring.

The idea of this swap is to get your creative juices flowing, and help other writers do the same, without having a large financial outlay.

I'm assuming that since this is a swap of natural material, it is not international? Many countries are very strict about importing natural things.

AngrySpinner 03/16/2007 #

Yoikes! I'd not considered that . . . I'm willing to leave it open to international, with the coda to please use good judgement, and perhaps stick with inert natural materials like rocks or sticks, or dried flowers.

You certainly raise a good point, Etayne--I hope it inspires great creativity . . . it's very much making me reconsider what might be beautiful from nature (and not an invasive species elsewhere!).

hmmm dried flowers are still prohibited, would you be willing to open it to a photo taken of something natural?

AngrySpinner 03/22/2007 #

I think a photo of something natural would work.

Australian and especialy Tasmanian customs are very strict about anything from nature, they freak out if shoes coming into the country have recently been worn on farms even, perhaps people could send something like a postcard of something natural, photos, they could send a couple of things that way and not get the customs police taking their swap away never to be seen again.
