Comic Relief Quick Swap [Found Art] While reading a newspaper comic or spotting a comic image in a magazine, keep this swap in mind. If something brings a smile please clip, cut, rip or tear….leaving a bit of margin around the spot. As is, glue to a piece of card stock [usually used for making greeting cards] Trim and send. You can get more specifics but I will throw out some info below. Feel free to ask questions. Small postcards take one 35 cent postage stamp and Jumbo postcards are fine with a regular FOREVER stamp.[.50 in USA] This swap is quick in the making and quick in the receiving. It will take you longer to read this than actually do it. That is comic in itself!!! This will be posted for 1 ½ weeks and then you will be given a swap partner. You’ll have one week to postmark and send. You will be sending a home-made greeting card OR a postcard. Size of your image will determine your options. There are size requirements for sending through the Post Office. Too small: under 3 1/2 inches by 5. Too large : over 6 1/8 by 11 ½ Make sure edges are glued down. I use a rolling Monoadhesive . You can use a glue stick lightly or dot kids’ school ink. Found Art may be “messy” at this point. No worry. Now cut off the edges with a cutter used for scrapbooking or card-making to make neat edges. This is why original has a margin. Hint. Place backed image on cutter with blade above or below and slide swiftly through all papers . You should get some nice cuts by firmly sliding blade quickly up or down the track. Sometimes edges of the thin paper can “catch” in the blade so pull all out and try again a little further into the image to get a nice cut. [It’s only paper!] No stress here. POSTCARDS can be the typical 3 ½ by 5 inches up to the requirements for a JUMBO postcard. For a normal greeting card [A-2] half sheet size, take a piece of cardstock 8 ½ by 11 and CUT IN HALF TOP TO BOTTOM. Result will be 8 by 5 ½ and fold in half to come up with a card front of 5 ½ by 4 ¼. Glue image on. This will fit into a normal Medium Envelope called Invitation Size. Forget the envelope if you want to make a Post Card They ship flat!!!!!!!!!!! Just turn over and write or print P-O-S-T-C-A-R-D at top. Use left side for note and right side address to your partner. Draw a line down the center. Mark your user name to left and your address is optional. If you receive your swap and at least crack a smile, you must give your sender a 5 for success. Enjoy some comic relief. |
