Description:

I am offering to help a historical society (across the country from me) find people to send in letters to kids for their letter writing workshop. Participants in the workshop are aged 9-13.

Join the swap to trade a note or letter with your partner and I will message you the address to write to the coordinator for the kids' class after you have clicked "sent" for this swap. (Or, just message me if you are only interested in sending a letter off to the kids' class.)

These kids are going to learn about envelope art, the art of writing letters, stamp collecting, making paper and stationary, designing postcards, the history of letters, and more. Cool, right?! I wish I was joining.

For the Kids:

One way we, as snail mail lovers, can help is to send these kids some of our "happy mail" in our own style. Send them a note about how you create any of the art you do in your letters/envelopes, what you love about receiving something fun in the mail- etc.

Imagine the joy for these kids in getting a beautiful envelope in the mail and the magic of something so ordinary becoming so special.

It is my understanding that these kids, or the volunteers working with them, will write back. Their class begins the first week of July, but the coordinator is collecting letters now.

For the swap-bot swap:

Write your partner a note about why you enjoy snail mail, how you found swap-bot, what types of swaps you enjoy, what you think about "the art of letter writing" etc. Make the note store bought OR hand-made, make it stationary, whatever you want- sender's choice. Tuck ins are not required, but always a fun surprise. Make it fun and lighthearted. This will be a quick turn-around, as notes (an any envelope art if done) do not need to be profile specific.

I will angel this swap, but please don't flake on the kids. Message your partner, communication is key and if there is no response, message me and rate your partner a 1.

This is newbie friendly and a good opportunity for anyone with recent 1's or 3's to boost ratings.

Edited to add:

Please keep content of letters sent after the swap to the kids light hearted. No politics, religion, etc. per coordinator.

Thanks everyone for joining! I assigned partners and sent out an email with the address to write to the kids. I'm so excited! Let me know if you had any issues receiving your email (and maybe double check your spam folder).
