TIM HOLTZ CHALLENGE: T—PAPER MINI-ALBUM

For this swap you will be making a mini-scrapbook album for your partner using four toilet paper rolls for the inside part of the min album. The method lends itself nicely to Tim Holtz’s vintage style. Keep in mind though that you may wish to use the bright Oxide Ink colors and make it more colorful than his early years of creating and developing his vintage, aged processes that we know so well. Decide what color scheme you want to use but be certain you can follow that color scheme for several pages, based on the supplies you have: papers, Distress Inks, Oxide inks and crayons, stamps, paper and metal ephemera and any other Tim Holtz products—paper dolls, floral ephemera, etc.

You will make one t—paper mini album for your partner, constructing and decorating its pages with Tim Holtz papers and products. Leave decorated frames or other spaces for your partner to add her own photos and journaling. The objective is to make an album your partner can make her own by adding photos, journaling, etc.

Please follow the instructions from this tutorial for creating a beautiful, sturdy t--paper album. Click HERE This is still not quite right for some reason. However, If you will right click on the word HERE, and choose "OPEN IN NEW TAB," IT SHOULD TAKE YOU TO THE VIDEO TUTORIAL.

You will use Tim Holtz paper rather than any kit like she uses in the tutorial. (I considered putting up 3 options for the instructions and decided that rating is simplified if we all use the same method.)

To receive a 5 rating, you must: 1) Follow the instructions from the tutorial link provided.

2) Use Tim Holtz products for nearly all of this project; using a few substitutes is OK, but it must be mostly Tim Holtz papers, stickers and rub-ons, paper and metal ephemera, fibers, inks, paints, stains, crayons, embossing—both dry and with powder, stencils, embossing folders, etc. Substitute products can be used for ribbon, fibers, adhesives, buttons, old book pages or images, etc.

3) Choose basic colors or a topic theme to develop throughout the little album, keeping some continuity through the entire album. I used paper only from one of his pads to create a theme. Don't use Thanksgiving or Christmas, just use your partner's profile to get an idea of what she may like. Or just chose a group of Tim's paper and ephemera and use your own choice.

4) Cover and decorate all 8 surfaces on outside of the 4 t. paper rolls to cover with paper and decorate, making mostly spaces for photos and journaling.

5) Make and decorate both sides of four small tags that can slide into the end of each flattened tube.

6) Decorate the front cover more fully because you have room for 3-D creations with flowers, tickets, words, clever sayings on little pieces of paper that are slid just under a large flower, garden fairy, etc. It should be 3 dimensional. This can be sender's choice if you need/want to get started right away. This will take a good deal of time, but is not difficult.

If your partner follows these instructions correctly, she should be rated a 5, even if you don’t “like” the design or colors used. Hearts are up to the recipient.

Think about getting a wonderful heart by doing a little bit extra---adding some items such as a waterfall page, flip pages, flip open “boxes” or pockets. Search You Tube with any of these terms to find how-to tutorials; waterfall pages are amazing!

Yes I would looove to see an image of the finished product to compare, if possible?

Yes....we need the tutorial link

I hope the work I did yesterday either created the link, or you can use the URL to copy and paste into your browser. I cannot figure out what is wrong with my LINK since I'm doing it as I've always done and got a good LINK to the tutorials in previous swaps.

If you have any questions, please feel free to send me a PM so I can answer them. I think everyone will have a great time making this album. Hope you'll jump in and join officially!

I cannot get to the link you posted. Could you go to YouTube and find that tutorial and give us a title to look it up by on YouTube? I'd really like to try it!
