Description:

Don't you just love surprises? For this swap, you will get and receive 2 of them. Send a little gift, a journal, a letter, a cd, an envelope full of random stuff...whatever you're in the mood to put in the mailbox. There is no money requirement, so you can spend as much as you want, or spend nothing at all. Be creative, and have fun!

I realize that there has been some concern that people may send out wonderful packages and get not-so-wonderful things in return. Of course, I encourage everyone to put together wonderful packages, no matter how little or how much you want to spend. Anyway, chances are that at least one of your two partners will send something that makes you happy. This swap is not meant to be unfair, but rather, just to see what happens when you tell people that they can send anything at all.

This swap is open to people who have ratings of 4.5 and higher, and to newbies who have complete profiles. I reserve the right to ban those who don't.

Is 2 a good number of swap partners for this swap? Let me know what you think!

NaughtyElf 12/21/2008 #

So, someone could get a bookmark and some stickers and someone else could get like a movie and a journal, or T-shirt, etc. should the sender choose to do so. Doesn't sound very fair and some people may end up disappointed. Also, are newbies allowed? Do participants have to have a filled out profile? What's the minimum rating required to join? Are you going to angel, etc? This could be a fun swap with some more info and guidelines, but right now, I don't know if I could join or not without some concerns.

hey Linda try to organize it better. When you say "you can spend as much as you want or you can spend nothing at all", it makes people get suspicious about the swap. I would make part of it, but I have been left without angel and explanations before, so this swap doesn't sound safe.

swapwoman35 12/22/2008 #

are all being mean let her make her own swaps if she wants 2 people then thats fine if she says no money to spend thats also fine cause someone of us need to be careful how much we spend

Doing swaps is about giving not getting, I would have thought that most swappers are givers, a handmade item may cost pennies but could really brighten someone's day. Let's have some faith, it may sound cliched but surely it's the thought that counts?

Personally, I'm giddy to take my chances at this one, it's a SURPRISE swap, that's the fun, not knowing. Would anyone buy lottery tickets if they knew who would win?

Amberisenergy 12/22/2008 #

I think this sounds really fun! I mean, I am sure everyone will send what they would hope to recieve as well right?

luvlin04 12/24/2008 #

i love surprises..! it's really exciting...

catlingmex 12/25/2008 #

Sounds like the perfect swap for those who get even more of a kick out of sending stuff out than recieving it. I'm in!

Saulute 12/27/2008 #

Sounds so interesting! I think it will be allright, because people will read their partners profiles, so there is a good change the surprise will be fun one!

lilrawker 12/28/2008 #

Aw, too bad its 2 partners. Would you consider doing this swap again at a later time with just 1 partner?

barmeychick 12/28/2008 #

I like the sound of this but it can be so difficult to pack swaps without a $$ guidline.

lizardolly 12/28/2008 #

I have a harder time putting a price on stuff I made for the price range swaps, that's why I love this idea soo much! Sorry partners, you kinda know you're getting crafted goodness now.

lindalinda 12/29/2008 #

Okay everyone, swap partners have been sent out. Have fun, and let me know if you have any questions.

lindalinda 12/29/2008 #

lilrawker, I know that 2 partners might be difficult for some people. I would be willing to redo this swap with just 1 partner sometime in the future...Or, anyone can feel free to start a similar 1-partner swap on their own.

lindalinda 12/29/2008 #

Hi everyone, I'm looking for an angel or two who would be able to help out. One swap member received two international swap partners and will have trouble sending out their packages because of financial difficulties. If anyone would be able to trade a partner with her and send to an international partner instead, please send me a message. It would be greatly appreciated! If anyone has any other suggestions on what could be done in this situation, please let me know. Thanks!

nolagirl 12/29/2008 #

You could suggest that she send something light to her partners. I've sent international packages for less than $2.

Canariangal78 12/30/2008 #

@lindalinda - You could also angel the packages yourself ; it is what I do if someone does flake or don't send out for whatever reason in any of the swaps I host (since it was my responsiblity in the first place to check on participants' ratings etc before assigning partners).

Invisible 12/30/2008 #

lindalinda, how about contacting her partners and asking them to send to the international people instead of sending to her. She could just be sknipped this time.

Saulute 12/31/2008 #

I just send my packages out and I am so eager to see, if they will like them, and also to see what I get! That is so much fun!
