Description:

This will probably one of the easiest swaps you'll participate in this year, I promise!

EDITED 1/24/2008 -

I've removed the requirement that I added the other day about a minimum dollar value for this swap.

I've received mixed responses from people about the swap and the decision I made in adding a dollar value to the yarn we need to send and I was torn about what to do but I feel I have to go back to what was originally listed on the swap rules as the requirements. I want to be fair because I did originally say 'your choice' from your stash. On the flip side, I want everyone (myself included) to be happy with the yarn they receive.

To soothe everyone's feelings about this, I think an expectation should be that we all send a good quality sock yarn to our partners, regardless of the price. I realize we all have different ideas of what makes a yarn a good quality yarn but hopefully we'll all be fair and send what we would like to receive.

Had this thought about a dollar value come up maybe a few weeks ago, perhaps changing the rule would have been fine. But the swap was to have already started so in all fairness, I feel it's only right to remove the minimum dollar value requirement.

PM me with questions/issues. Thank you.

  1. One partner.

  2. Send a skein of sock yarn of your choice to your partner.

  3. The skein must still have its label and information attached and still be in its original form (not already wound up, please).

  4. If you have the smaller skeins that actually require 2 of them to make a pair of socks, you need to send both. (No fair only sending enough for one sock - we already have 'single sock syndrome', no need to develop 'oh crap, I don't have enough yarn to make both socks syndrome'.)

  5. Since this is sender's choice and it's coming from your stash, I'm not leaving a huge amount of time between sign ups closing and when you need to send your sock yarn out.

Below are the sign up rules (I've taken the liberty of copying most of @telizas info from her swap as she says exactly what I would, I hope you don't mind!).

You must be a member of the Knitters R' Us Group to participate. A rating of 4.9 or better is required. Newbies are welcome, IF you PM me first AND have a completed profile. I will angel this swap if someone flakes. You MUST rate for this swap, I stalk non-raters! This is an international swap, as yarn skeins are fairly lightweight.

I`m leaving. This is not anymore the swap I signed up for. Sorry.

Cakers 01/23/2009 #

No apologies necessary, I totally understand.

Thanks for putting the minimum amount on the swap! I hesitated to join this swap because I also have a lot of high end sock yarn. I'm looking forward to swapping!

Thank you so much for adding a minimum value! I think that this makes the swap much more fair and ensures that everyone sends & receives the same quality yarn.

I've heard from 4 of you so far with that same thought so thank YOU for supporting the decision to put the min value. :-)

Please see the email I just sent everyone, due to the various responses from adding the new rule I felt I had to put the swap back to its original rules/requirements.

I completely understand why you've changed the swap requirements back to the original ones. You really are a good and considerate host! Since I don't feel comfortable swapping something this expensive without a min. value, I am going to have to drop out. (I have absolutely no hard feelings, though!) Let me know if you ever host a stash sock yarn swap that does have a minimum value.

I love sock yarn, and like to try all kinds and varieties. I esp. love bright and wild colors, but basic blacks browns or creams are nice, too. If mine comes already wound I will give a heart - my yarn shop will only wind what I buy there, and I hate winding by hand!

PS- thanks for this swap! I know what a pain it can be to host!

beaglemom 01/26/2009 #

I will be happy with anything! I am looking forward to giving and getting something "new" to me!

kgeslab - another thing I'm learning this time. Maybe allowing a skein to be wound is a good thing. I didn't think of that because I own a ball winder and a swift. I spoiled myself a few years ago and bought them in California at Stitches. I'll keep that in mind for next time. Thanks!
