Open to Newbies, this is an International Swap

What IS a "swap card?"

Whenever you send out a swap, it's really nice to include a little "blip" - listing who sent it, the name of the swap, and even the date it was mailed.

These little "notes" - - (recycled cards/computer generated/embellished/ etc, etc,) "cards - are fun to make, and they can use almost ANY materials, from leftover kid's construction paper, to recycled greeting cards - the sky's the limit!

I've even seen some OH SO darling ones, using those round paper key tags!

And since they are so much FUN to make, and use some craft materials that may not be "suitable" (size, color etc) for other projects, you can just "let go" with them.

You will have TWO partners, and will make for each of them, SEVEN swap cards. (Yes, that's 14 total) - these can be all different, or all the same.

(I was a math teacher for years, and wanted to see if you were paying attention - haha- -)

Yes, that's right, fourteen swap cards. Go ahead and make more, but for my own cards that I've made, typing one sheet of these "labels", there's room for seven of them, on one side of the paper - then you can turn over the sheet, and run it through again for the other partner.

You can print out "labels" to attach to them, with the info filled out for your partner's swap id, and first name (if you know it), or leave the name blank. (You WILL know your partner's swap id, so that should be included.)

Include ALSO the "swap name" and "date mailed" that they can fill in, and send them off in their future swaps.

Have some creative FUN with these, and make them adorable and cute! (well, the adorable part may be optional, but please let's be sure they are all CUTE!

I'm giving a month to make these, tho you probably won't need that much time - these little things are FUN to make and pretty addictive, so be careful!

This swap is open to newbies, since they are just starting out, and might want to know what these little gems are like -

It is also international, since they should be pretty small, and easy to mail.

Any questions, message me here, or privately, and I'll get to ya right away.

Is there any kind of limit on the size of these - like inchies or ATCs?

gramsbuttonbox 01/ 1/2009 #

the only limitation, is that it has to be big enough for the info that is written on it - I also have been known to "hang" one of those tiny string-price tags, with a little inchie on it, and writing "Enjoy" on the tag - and hanging it from the corner of the swap card - -

I also have some recycled cards that are cut in strange shapes, to show off the decoration, some 5-sided, some almost oval - whatever - just as long as the swapping info for your partner will fit.

hope that helps - Mary

Kinda small the inchies to get info on them isn't it?

ladydy5 01/ 2/2009 #

or do you mean, just an information card to slip into envelope not necessarily to paste on back of ATC or inchies or anything you send. I usually use a business card to slip in with it.

gramsbuttonbox 01/ 2/2009 #

I suppose that would work also, -- but lots of swappers make them into little cuties of their own - -

I won't refer to them as an ATC or an inchie, since that is something with more rigid rules, about size, etc - - my thoughts about swap cards are that they are SUPPOSED to be made from something recycled -

Some of mine are maybe 2" x 3", some are a bit bigger, some are a little smaller - the size is NOT important, as I wrote, as long as it's big enough to include the information on it.

I hope I didn't sound as if I've used inchies for swap cards, but I have attached little string-tie price tags with a tiny piece of beautiful scrapbook paper, or button, or other embellishment - strung ON the swap card, with maybe just "Enjoy" or "Create" written on the tag. - - All just for some FUN!

The skies the limit here, for creativity, and imagination - please do not limit yourselves to anything structured, except to include your partner's swap info.

hope that helps, Mary

Hi I am going to get started on this so long. I am a newbie and have a 5 swap limit rule(?) so I will only join at the 11th hour if that is ok. This sounds like a really good idea. So far I have just attached little notes to each thing, now I can make some cards to swap and a few for myself plus as a bonus I get so great ones sent to me to use.

gramsbuttonbox 01/ 8/2009 #

that is just fine, and we look forward to having you join us.

Mary

Thanks for letting me join. My swap cards are done. I had such fun with this. I have even sent out some with my last couple of posted items. Thanks for the advice.

I've extended this swap for a few days, because of a family emergency - I'll be out of town for a little bit, and may not be able to be online -

sorry about that, Mary

gramsbuttonbox 01/24/2009 #

partners have been assigned - so get your items ready and ship them on time please - -

hope you all enjoyed this swap, and thank you for joining it! Mary

i made each of my partners 10 cards and 10 matching address labels. 10 is what my sheets called for. :)

Swap cards are en route to my partners. Enjoy!

Swap cards are winging their cheery way to Springville UT and Tucson, AZ - - Cindy and Wendy, I hope you enjoy these and have a great week!

gramsbuttonbox 02/ 9/2009 #

Just an FYI - - (and this only applies to swaps that I host)

In order to keep the swaps that i'm hosting "front and center" on my dashboard page, I do NOT click the "Item Sent" link, so that I can keep track of the swap more easily, and also, it serves as a reminder to check on the progress of the swap -

I ALWAYS post to the message board that the items are sent, and I also know that clicking that link moves them to the Sent page, (so they don't really "disappear") - but for me, personally, it's just easier and more manageable if they are right there, on the first page.

I hope that clears any confusion, or concern about my own personal swaps, and as I wrote, it ONLY applies to the swaps that I'm hosting.

have a good week, Mary
