Description:

Take a journey into "the heart of darkness"- your own heart that is, to find what dark things are lurking there just beneath the surface...

This is a swap for those who have a dark nature and embrace it. For this swap you will reveal a number of dark things to your partner.

~1. Write a letter and describe your definition of what evil is...Is evil turning a blind eye to those less fortunate than ourselves? Is it the Devil? Is evil just a force that strikes at random and touches us all? Describe what evil means to you. Also in the letter include one dark secret, fantasy, or fact about yourself that no one else knows (remember to keep it within legal limits). This should help get anything that has been weighing on you a chance to breathe and get it off your mind. It should be a given that any secrets shared with our partners should be kept, and never revealed.

~2. Please include one book that touches your dark little soul. It can be Horror, Gothic Romance, Supernatural, etc., as long as it goes with the theme of the swap. It can be new, thrifted (but in good condition, no missing covers, torn or missing pages, etc., and the binding is still tight), or something from your personal collection that you wish to share, again as long as it is in good shape.

~3. An artistic representation of what scares you...are you afraid of vampires? Killer clowns? Full moons or monsters? This can be done in a number of ways...a matchbox turned into a coffin? a voodoo dotee perhaps? an ATC drawn to express what is scary...the limits are endless, just make it nice and be creative.

~4. Finally, something for your partner to ward off what scares them. It can be an amulet of some kind, a dreamcatcher, a sachet made with herbs to ward off bad dreams, you get the idea, something that would soothe their fears and keep a little of the darkness at bay. (If swappers would like to, leave a brief comment on what scares you- that way, if possible, your partner can try to acommodate you when selecting or making your ward/charm, although this may not be possible for every fear so it is not a requirement).

Please make this a thoughtful swap. Extras are nice if tailored to your partner's likes, but try to really do a good job on the actual swap first and foremost. Remember extras do not make up for a swap that is just thrown together hastily or doesn't meet criteria.

Now for the unpleasantries:

Please do not sign up if you do not plan to follow through, anyone that flakes on a swap I host will not be allowed in any future swaps I create.

Since this is a more involved swap I will ask that you have a 4.9 or better rating, no recent no sends, and at least 5 non-email/mail swaps to your credit. Please be sure you can commit to this swap if you sign up! Please be online within a week of partners being assigned. I reserve the right ban those who have not been online recently, are suspicious swappers, etc.

It is difficult to put a dollar amount on this swap since most of it may or could be homemade, but I would say $5-$8 value for the book and whatever you need to spend to make or obtain the rest. Let's all try to be thoughtful and make something we would be happy to receive!

This swap will be international so make sure you are comfortable with shipping overseas and don't mind paying for it, this is too delicious of a swap to keep to just the US. I want as many good swappers as we can get in on this one! I am allowing enough time to sign up and enough time to get it sent out so we can all take the time we need to deliver a great swap!

If I have left something out, or if anyone has any questions please leave a comment here or pm me. I am always happy to help!

Thank you and have all the dark fun you can with this one!

I am sensitive to bad energy and dreams so something to ward those off if possible would be nice. Thank you!

Are zombies Evil? Mmm, zombies and spiders are pretty much it. Oh and the apocalypse.

NaughtyElf 01/ 8/2009 #

I think zombies would qualify, I consider anyone who wants to eat my brains evil...lol! And if spiders and zombies scare you that's pretty legit stuff...funny we just watched Resident Evil: Apocalypse last night...hmmm

culpepper 01/14/2009 #

Oh this is such a good idea for a swap!

NaughtyElf 01/15/2009 #

Thanks! Has one like this been done before do you think? Glad you like it! Yay!

culpepper 02/ 1/2009 #

I've not seen anything like it before :) Just printed the instructions out so I can start on them :)

NaughtyElf 02/ 1/2009 #

NIce, thank you to all who have signed up so far, I am looking forward to this one as well!

mazzlestar 02/ 1/2009 #

I'm watching this one, it's a truly AWESOME idea for a swap. As for me, I'm pretty much terrified of everything - I do have the whole Harry Potter style "what I fear most is fear itself" thing, but seriously, I'm apalling - clowns, ghosts, spiders, being alone, the dark, silence, total stillness... not vampires, though, i think i've been too pop-culture influenced and it's just not scary anymore! I get pretty vivid nightmares so I've got lots to work with, and my "what is evil" letter will probably be more like an essay!!

crud...sorry guys....this next few months is going to be hecka hectic, I don't want to risk messing up such a cool swap.

I hope you have a similar one some time soon :)

This is an amazing idea. I'm new but I really would love to do this as I would do it well! p.s... Rabbits are the sum of all evil!

84kitty 02/16/2009 #

Super cool idea, You have the best swaps :) My fear is being alone. Not like 'can't stand to be alone in a house or whatever' I live alone and have scheduled leave me alone days, love it, maybe too much. But being the last-person-on-earth alone or everyone-I-loved-was-gone alone.

TheFallenAngel 02/17/2009 #

Ahhh, I just realized that nobody knows what my fears are... I'm so used to it being public knowledge that it didn't occur to me that people who don't know me wouldn't have a clue. D'oh.

I have panic disorder with agoraphobia, which is the fear of having panic attacks (I point that out because a lot of people seem to think that it's a fear of open spaces because severe agoraphobia can leave a person house ridden). My biggest fear is death - I worry that I will mistake a serious medical problem for a panic attack and not get help in time. You would think that since I feel as if I am dying a lot, I wouldn't be afraid of death, but there you go... the human mind can be so irrational! Since everyone knows that lavender is calming, I should point out that I'm allergic to it... so please don't kill me! :-D

Ah... and on the off chance that my partner might worry that I'll freak about their fears or about a horror novel... I have no problem with that sort of thing. It's only death in relation to me that truly scares me, and it's really only a problem during the time it takes for a sedative to kick in. Blood and guts, killer clowns, rabbits @PumpkinWrappings - they have glowing red eyes in the dark and they hiss at you... they are evil!), etc., doesn't bother me. ;-)

Psychopixie 02/18/2009 #

the fears i have are of never finding love again, losing my son, spiders, and dying to young cause of all my health problems

NaughtyElf 03/ 8/2009 #

Thanks guys for listing these, sorry I didn't check back sooner, if any one else has any questions, please om me, or I will still continue to check here as well! Thank you all for joining!

Morte 03/ 9/2009 #

purekitte 04/ 6/2009 #
