Description:

I read about this technique quite awhile ago on Splitcoasters. I have tried to add a link but, the computer is not cooperating with me. 1. Using FOIL cardstock, lightly run black StazOn ink pad or any Archival black ink down the cardstock. Making sure to get a little extra along the edge & subtle streaks down the center. Do this again if you need to. You want light subtle streaks all over the ATC. Be careful with this first step. It is easy to get finger prints on the foil & it will show up later. You can use removable tape on the back of the ATC & lay it on a piece of scratch paper. I make an circle with my tape.

2.Stamp an image on the foil cardstock using the same ink. Dry with a heat tool. Make sure the ink is dry or it will smear later.

  1. Using Versamark ink pad or whatever you use for heat embossing, rub the ink directly on the stamped foil in the same directions as your streaks you created in step 1. Use a light touch with this part making sure you cover the whole ATC.

  2. Add clear embossing powder & tap off the extra. Melt the powder with a heat tool. I had better luck using Ultra Thick Embossing Powder. Whatever clear embossing powder you use, you can do a couple layers if you are not happy with one layer.

  3. You are now finished & it should look like Black Ice.

Be sure to add a sturdy backing & you Swap bot info.

Something is wonky. I typed the directions as

But it looks different above. The shimmery ice is hard to see in my samples but, it is there. I promise.

would it be possible to use white ink on silver foil on the first step, and then use black ink for the image? thank you, marlies

No, because that would give it a completely different look. You can always try that on your own tho & see how it looks.

I have 3 different colors of foil I’m going to practice on tomorrow. Hope it works for me. :/

The directions I have say to run the StazOn ink very lightly down the ATC. I found I had to press a little harder to get the desired look.
