For Newbies #3 The Washi Tape

As a newbie, I know it can be hard to get started on swapbot. Some swaps don’t allow not-rated or just joined swappers. So how can you get rated if your not allowed to join swaps?

It’s important to realise that building up a good swapbot reputation takes time. It does not happen overnight. Take swapbot seriously. Log in often. Read the discussions. Check your hosts and fellow swappers profiles.

This will be the first of three swaps to help you wet your toes in the world of swapbot. Because our goal here is to develop good swapbot habits and build up a solid and honest profile (not with ratings boosters)

Send 2 washi tape samples to your partner. This washi tape must be 30-40cm long (inches you’ll have to google). Wrap the washi tape around a tag, playing card or piece of cardboard. Please write a small note to your partner. Just chitchat about the weather. Don’t forget to write down the name of this swap and your swapbot name. For a heart: Look at your partner’s profile and see if you can send an extra surprise. Maybe a favorite sealed teabag? a special sticker? a viintage postcard?

Upon receiving the swap, rate immediatley and write something in the comments! For example “ Got your swap today, thank you!”.

If you have any 1’s or 3’s this swap is not for you and you won’t be allowed.

Non rated newbies : Yes, but I will look at your profile first. If you just joined last week then I will message you. If you don’t answer right away then that will say it all. If your name has come up somewhere where people think you are a double profiler or a “ seasonal swapper” then you will be banned.

With these newbie swaps I will check your profiles (A good credible swapper ALWAYS checks profiles).

Take the time to fill out your profile. What are your likes and dislikes but also write a little about yourself. Don’t be vague.

This swap has a fast turnaround date so keep an eye on it.
