Description:

Anyone can make one of these! For this swap you will make 2 ATCs for 1 partner. Use inks, gouache, water colour or acrylic paints (oils would take forever to dry). Place some blobs of paint on your 3 1/2"x 2 1/2" paper and fold vertically or horizontally...or maybe you could try more folds...just experiment.
Use loads of colour or black and white. White paper, black paper, coloured paper...its up to you. These 'ink blot' prints are fun and addictive so I have allowed plenty of time to practice. There is no need to embellish in any way...let your 'blots' speak for themselves. :)
The example above is one I threw together a couple of minutes ago and it took only seconds (do you think it looks like a pansy? or maybe that means I fail the ink blot test?) :)
Remember these are not meant to be 'FINE ART' but are definitely 'FUN ART'; so I hope you will join in and I am sure you will love this technique. Don't forget it is important to attach your work to a firm backing and label it appropriately. Open to world wide swappers, no recent no-sends, well filled in profile with a decent rating... although new swappers are also welcome.
Please do the right thing and send to your partner. If you are going to be late (stuff happens to us all and we understand) DO send your partner a message. Oh.. and please rate your partner when you receive your ATCs. Please message me with any questions or leave a note below

Thats it... enjoy!

The more I look at my pic above the less it looks like a Pansy and more like an angry woman wearing an ugly hat... LOL! :D

ThePinkPosy 02/17/2009 #

LOL this seems fun. I think your pic looks like the Mothman from that horror movie symphonie.

symphonie 02/17/2009 #

aagh! do you think so? that is a scary movie LOL!
I hope you will join in the fun? :)

flowersmakemesmile 02/17/2009 #

OMG I can see the 'tiger eating licorice' LOL!!!
Welcome everyone and thanks for joining the swap. I think this is going to be a lot of fun! You can wait and use your partners favourite colours if you wish but its your work of 'fun art' so just do your thing. :)

Definitely adding to my watch list! What a neat concept!

I'm watching, but can we embellish if we want to? Just to let you know, I give hearts for the requirements, so would give a 5 and heart even without embellishments. Just want to know if it is all right to embellish. Also, can we do a large inkblot, and cut it up into pieces?

symphonie 03/ 8/2009 #

magpie55 I did intend this to just be the inkblot as it appears... completely random and whole. Changing with embellishments and cutting up a larger one is not really in keeping with the original idea . As for hearts, that is entirely up to the receiver. I don't join any swaps that even mention hearts...they are not a requirement of this swap whatsoever.

mine are done, and you were right the are super addictive, i think i made about 25 before i finally quit.

symphonie 03/16/2009 #

smokeyquartz1980, that is brilliant that you made all of those, I can't wait to see lots of results on flickr of everyone's work :)

Franstuff 03/17/2009 #

Ok...I'm in...

BTW.. I see the Rampant Craft Supply Eating Pansy Monster, with a bad hat, and a triple chin, or bulging neck.....that perhaps Batman punched in the face because he was going after grandma's craft supplies?

symphonie 03/18/2009 #

LOL! you have quite a vivid imagination Franstuff. I think we should get to to analyse all the ink blots everyone makes :D

Tatsu 03/19/2009 #

Wow! That looks like those balancing toys which looks like fruit fly wearing Darth Vader's helmet and holding a moth (these are quite common here in peru)

dangerine 03/19/2009 #

this is awesome. i love how everyone sees different things. i see a big mushroom with a fairy coming out of it.

Turtle17 03/19/2009 #

I see a tiger, with his reflection on a pond.

SkippyMom 03/20/2009 #

I seriously still see the pansy - not a pansy I would want in my garden, but a pansy nonetheless...lol...no imagination.

IslandBroad 03/20/2009 #

In the "Wreck This Journal" it instructed you to make an ink blot. I had a lot of fun w/ it. I think I'll like this swap too.

symphonie 03/21/2009 #

What an excellent number of participants we have. Partners are assigned so dab away everyone!! Can't wait to see some very interesting blots! :)

twobluecrows 03/21/2009 #

Here's my first one and my second--

they both came out looking like some sort of fantastic animals

I think I see a postcard swap coming out of this!

symphonie 04/ 1/2009 #

Thanks for that kind offer Tammy.. I hope we don't have any flakers. Swaps should have been sent now, sadly there are a few that have not sent yet and I hope partners have been notified. If you do not receive your ATCs in the next 2 weeks please do send me a message, I don't want anyone to miss out.
