  • Trope: all adults are useless
  • Book: Matilda by Roald Dahl
  • Genre - Children's literature, Fantasy
  • Too funny and I love this story!

  • Trope Main character moves to new town, MC business is in danger because someone is poisoned

  • Death by Coffee by Alex Erickson

  • Genre the first in most cozy mysteries. series.

  • I am really sick of the whole genre, and the often the first book is poison for a food based hobby or business.

  • Trope: Enemies to Lovers (I previously wrote friends)
  • Book: The Hating Game by Sally Thorne
  • Genre - Contemporary Romance
  • Blah, kinda overhyped. I can not even remember the story weeks later...did not find it funny either.

  • Trope: Fake relationship to stay alive 💘
  • Book: Catching Fire (The Hunger Games #2) by Suzanne Collins
  • Genre - Dystopia (YA)
  • Totally worked for me in 2010. Team Peeta all the way.

Trope: Chosen One

Book: Harry Potter, The Hunger Games, A Court of Thrones and Roses, the list goes on

Genre: Fantasy

It depends on the book, in all of these it works, but I've also read it done poorly

Trope: Two lovebirds find TRUE love, and one of them dies, tragically.

Book: Most of Nicholas Sparks first books.

Genre: Romance? Fiction? Sappy, men who find love but die?

I stopped read them because he killed off ANOTHER main character.

Trope: hurt/comfort Book: anything by Heidi Cullinan Genre: Cullinan is romance, but the trope can be in any genre

I love this trope, but only when both parts are balanced. If there's too much hurt without the corresponding comfort (even if it comes late), it's just not satisfying to not at least start to heal along with the character.

  • Trope: enemies to lovers
  • Book: Kinked (Elder races #6) by Thea Harrison / Peter Darling by Austin Chant
  • Genre: Romance
  • I think, this trope makes the romance more exciting to read. So much tension, so many twists.
KSENiA 09/29/2021 #
  • Trope: non human main character
  • Book: A Dragon of a Different Color (Heartstrikers # 1) by Rachel Aaron / A Demon Bound (Imp #1) by Debra Dunbar / All Systems Red (The Murderbot Diaries #1) by Martha Wells
  • Genre: Urban fantasy / SciFi
  • I am seek of human = good , non human = bad consent in majority of UF/SciFi. I like to read books with different perspective on life.
KSENiA 09/29/2021 #
  • Trope: Love Triangles
  • Book/Genre: Almost every single YA ever written...
  • I just can't stand it! Why? Why a girl is so confused, that she can't decide which boy she likes? And the only reason authors keep doing that, so the teens will keep arguing which shipping team will wen. You wand tension - create it on page, not in the comment section!
KSENiA 09/30/2021 #
  • Trope: Grumpy love interest
  • Book: Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen / Uprooted by Naomi Novik / Clockwork Heart by Dru Pagliassotti
  • Genre Romance / Fantasy /Steampunk
  • Not necessary something I would like in real life. But there is certain charm in closed, awkward guys.

Trope: Trademark Favourite Food Book: Every Heart a Doorway By Seanan McGuire Genre - Young Adult Fantasy, LGBT novella, magical realism I wish I read this as a teen. It has an Asexual main character and many other LGBT characters. A favorite food can help form a character interests or be symbolic💘
