Description:

Thanks to everyone who joined the last Profile Whimsey Jars swap I hosted and I hope you have as much fun in this one also ;-) One little twist to this one, the items you send in the jar are to be for your partners use, not their kids. If you would like to include items for their kids, you may add it in your package, but not in the whimsy jar!

For this swap you will have one swap partner. You must have a 4.9 or higher and at least 5 completed swaps that are not email or postcard swaps and you must be rated for them. You must also have a detailed and fully filled out profile. I might message you if you need to add more to your profile.

This is to be a fun and enjoyable swap, so if you can not send out your part, this swap is not for you. NO FLAKERS!! No NO SENDS whatsoever! I have the right to ban you from this swap if I think you might be questionable. Dont take it personally, I am looking out for those that join my swaps. If you have any questins or concerns about a member that has joined, please PM to discuss it.

  • Okay, now for the details: If you do not know what Whimsey Jars are, you can find some great ideas and find out what they are with some great pics on Flickr or Photo Bucket. Just go to Flickr or Photo Bucket and type in Whimsey Jars in the search box.

  • You will be filling a Quart sized jar (plastic or glass). If you are wondering what size a quart size jar is, here is a way to find out. It is 32 ounces or if you have a measuring cup, measure out 4 cups of water and pour it into your jar. If it holds all 4 cups of water, then your jar is big enough.

  • You will be filling the jar with items from your partners profile. Look at your partners profile and make sure the items you are sending them are going to be ones that they would like. Such as, dont send yarn to your partner if they do not have on their profile that they want or use yarn, knitting, croqueting ect. I want everyone to receive items that they want, they can be store bought or handmade. Please do not send items that look used. Only send what you would like to receive.

  • Do not Send big bulky items that take up alot of room in the jar. You should be able to fit a variety of different items into the jars. If you have an item that you question about sending to your partner, you may PM your partner.

  • Examples of these items might be: stickers, brads, beads, stamps, buttons, paper punchers, jewlery, atc, bookmarks, kawaii, rubber stamps, embroidery floss, markers, pens, ribbon, lace ect.... the list can go on forever. Once again, look at your partners profile.

  • You will need to decorate the outside of the jar as well as fill the inside. Please do not just glue on a few pieces of paper and call it decorated. Try to think of ideas for your partners profile to decorate the outside of the jar. The jar MUST be filled to the top.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.

This is USA only. If you want an international swap, you are more then welcome to create one.

I am going to try this again. Maybe I will have better luck this time around. * crosses fingers *

angelbowen 03/ 5/2009 #

LOL @atotalnobody maybe we will get lucky and get each other this time hehehe

CajunLady 03/ 5/2009 #

in the swap description you have USA only. But the location is marked as International!!

angelbowen 03/ 5/2009 #

Thanks for pointing that out CajunLady, I fixed it ;-)

I also wanted to post this...I've only been in one other Whimsey Jar swap. It was for a baby food size. Apparently my partner thought my profile was "too hard" for her to get info on filling up a tiny jar to send me. It consisted of a chunky blue necklace, a few small feathers and some skull cut outs. So when partners come out, if mine thinks my profile is "too hard" please PM me!! My profile is like it is so it reflects me. It's not a strict guideline of what you have to send me!! Good points of reference now for my jar? Pieces of fabric, rolls of unused thread, buttons, bath bombs, tea bags, used stamps(I collect), little charms with images that I like, small pieces of chocolate...as long as there are no stickers or things that fall under the category of "do not send/dislikes", it will be cool with me!! I'm not a hard person to please!!

CajunLady 03/ 5/2009 #

in fact, I'm going to be marking some Whimsey Jars as favs on Flickr and linking to it on my profile!!

This is so tempting to join, but will have to watch it for awhile:) Sounds like so much fun though!

angelbowen 03/ 5/2009 #

@Darleneh710 Yes they are so much fun! I enjoyed putting together everything for my last partner and she loved it also!

shezcrafty 03/ 5/2009 #

I am really considering joining...perhaps when I complete my other swaps then I will join. sounds fun.

preservingmemories2000 03/ 5/2009 #

I would love to join but the size of the jar is too big for my pocket book. Any chance you would be hosting one for a babyfood size jar?

jdb822 03/ 5/2009 #

Thats a great idea cajunlady! Not only for whimsy jars, but crafts in general. I'll be doing the same.

I've got this swap on my watchlist at the moment, until I get a pesky rating cleared up.

jacksbluejane 03/ 6/2009 #

I want to do this, and i'm willing to invest the time and cash in it as who wants a jar full of crap that no one wants.... but it looks like people have gotten burned on these?

angelbowen 03/ 7/2009 #

@jacksbluejane that is why I have made the requirements to join so strict, we want only good swappers to be a part of this swap and not flakers. Anyone that doesnt meet the requirements will be banned from this swap. I will be going through all members profiles as the sign up date gets closer and I will be weeding anyone questionable out.

I am sure we are all going to have fun doing this swap!

jacksbluejane 03/ 9/2009 #

yippee!!! I might fit the bill by the sign up date.... if not, I'll catch the next one... I'm already doing a small blue and brown jar :) Good practice!!!! And a total challenge to find small things! Thanks for being a responsible host! :)
