Description:

I love buttons, and I love jewelry! Put the two together, and you get BUTTON RINGS!!!

There are several ways to make them, here is a website with a tutorial on making button rings:

http://peptogirl.blogspot.com/2008/08/handmade-for-holidays-easy-button-ring.html

This is an international Swap, and is open to everyone, including Newbies -- with a filled out profile. 4.5 and over please, No unexplained recent no sends.

You will have one partner, and will need to send your package by April 14th. I think that should give anyone enough time to make a ring and send if off.

When you mail your ring, please package it carefully, so it arrives the way you sent it. Don't just throw it in an envie and slap a stamp on it. Wrap it in bubble wrap, put it in a small jewelry box, somehow protect it before you put it in the envie!

You can make your button ring any way you want to, just make a nice ring to fit on someone's finger. If your ring won't be adjustable, you should ask your partner for an approximate size, so she can wear it!

If you have any questions, please leave a comment, or PM me. I will angel if needed, but I sincerely hope everyone will honor their commitments!

Most of us understand rating, 5 if the swap requirements were met, which means 1 wearable button ring. Hearts are up to you, is the package or the ring extra special to you? If you have any questions about ratings, please ask.

Remember this is international, so don't panic if you don't receive your ring instantly. Sometimes International packages can take longer to arrive. Communicate with your partner before you rate.

Let's make Button Rings!!!

this seems like a lovely swap. The button ring tutorial link is very helpfull too. I just realized that I don't have so nice buttons at all nor the ring bases. Pity, would have been nice. Wish you a lot of fun with this!

Do you think you could make them with 1" art buttons, you know the kind you pin to your jacket or backpack? Interesting.

I'd love to join but I can't find ring bases. Where do you get yours?

AngelGurl 03/11/2009 #

oh this is right up my ally . I found ring bases at my local beading shop

You can make them any way your want to! You don't have to use the ring bases like they do in the tutorial. That is only one way to make them.

You can crochet a ring and sew a button to it, wire wrap a ring and incorporate a button, beadweave, or use meomory wire. There are LOTS of ways to make rings.

The buttons don't have to be "cute" like the ones in the tutorial. My buttons are more vintage, or victorian. I also LIKE plain buttons. I have several where I have used a black 1" button for the base, and then put a decorated metal button on top of that. Sometimes I like a button so much I just use the one button on a ring base.

ANOTHER WAY TO MAKE A BUTTON RING:

I saw some button rings made with elastic "rings".

Sew a short piece of elastic, at least 1/4 inch, into a ring, and then sew through whatever button you want as the base. Then you could kill 2 birds with one stone, by gluing the additional rings on top of that, which would also secure the knot you made to secure the elastic to the button.

EVEN ANOTHER WAY TO MAKE A BUTTON RING:

Here's a video tutorial that shows you how to wire wrap a button ring.

Is anybody else wondering when this swap will start?

Sorry guys...gals... I haven't been able to get on the internet for several days. First the internet went out, then my power went out too! They are working on some junction box at the bottom of my hill, so EVERYONE around me has had the same problem. It just started working so, hopefully they have it fixed for good!! I wish I could get cable... They come right up to my hill, but don't go up it....
