Description: | |
This swap idea came from the travel montages in period 30's-40's movies like the Indiana Jones movies or the movie Australia where an airplane, boat or train is superimposed on a map. So what we will do for this swap is make one postcard (or make two, one for yourself) that has a map as the background of a place you would like to travel to and a picture of a plane, train, automobile or boat superimposed on top of it. On the back of the postcard you will include a statement as to why you need a vacation. For example...I need a vacation because there is 4 feet of snow on the ground, I have cabin fever and I can't get off the island because Mount Redoubt is active and the planes aren't flying... You can add anything else to the postcard that you desire as long as it is travel related such as cancelled postage stamps, images of animals, trees, people, a phrase from that country, etc. For example, Eygpt seems good to me right now, I am sick of winter so my postcard might have a map of the area around Cairo, a plane, an image of a camel, a palm tree and Thirties style luggage labels. In keeping with the theme please try to make them look like 30's-40's style planes, trains, automobiles, etc. You can stamp, draw, sew, glue, decoupage or anything else your little heart desires as long as it is put together well. This is an international swap since postage for a postcard is minimal. Newbies are welcome. Also I will be checking profiles and if you have any no-sends I will ban you. If you sent late, I understand that life happens but I will want to know that you stayed in contact with your partner until you got your swap sent out. Also, if your profile starts "I always send my swaps out late" please don't bother signing up. Late does happen but it should never be assumed beforehand. If you are a fan of "chunky postcards" then make sure to send them in a padded envelope otherwise please send them nakey to give them that well-traveled look. |
