NaNo 2023: Let's Get Prepping!

Greetings Wrimos!

It's September and you know what that means! It's time to start prepping for NaNoWriMo 2023! September and October are the traditional preparation months and the folks at NaNo offer lots of great resources to help Wrimos get ready.

For this swap, we'll be doing the advance work from the free six-week NaNo Prep 101 course. It's all online, free and a good way to get into the spirit of the November challenge.

Here's the basic course outline:

• Developing a story idea (Week 1)

• Creating characters (Week 2)

• The plot or outline and choosing the plotting technique that works for you (Week 3)

• Building your story world/community (Week 4)

• Getting your life organized to write (Week 5)

• The nuts and bolts of making time to write (Week 6).

Each week has an exercise as well as additional resources in the form of videos, articles, quizzes and more. You can download and/or print the course workbook if you'd like.

For this swap, you will post at least three updates on your prep progress in the group forum thread: 2023 Let's Get Prepping Swap. You do not have to do the prep in the order it's provided in the course (i.e. you could start with worldbuilding then move to characters, etc).

Suggested posting dates: Sept. 17, Oct. 1, and Oct. 15. These dates provide optimized time if you get started now rather than waiting until partners are assigned or the end of October all in a rush.

At the end of the swap, check the forum thread to make sure your partner has posted a minimum of three updates on their NaNo Prep progress.

Swap posted Sunday, Sept. 3. Sign-up by Sunday, Sept. 17. Last post/send by date is Sunday, Oct. 29.
