Description:

We always do our riddances during our Samhain ritual as a way to prepare ourselves for the new year, so I thought timing this to correspond with Samhain would be extra powerful!

This swap will include three written things and some witchy goodies for the fun of it!

1) A Rhyme: This can be a few lines of a poem either original from another author, a rhyming chant, anything that has a rhyme to it silly, magical, serious, or funny! What ever strikes your fancy! This paper with the Rhyme should be decorated. (Use what ever things you would like to decorate stamped images, sequins, washi, drawings, stickers, collage, etc...)

2) A Rune: After looking at your partner's profile, write them a personal Rune. By "Rune" I mean a charm, or a blessing. For example; maybe your partner likes to travel then their Rune could be something like: May the new year bless you with exciting travels and adventures! This page with the Rune should decorated again using whatever you would like!

3) A Riddance: in a yin-yang sort of spirit, reflect upon your own life and choose something that you want to get rid of. A memory or something you feel guilty about, it may be an addiction, a fear, a sadness, something about yourself. Whatever IT is, write one sentence describing this thing you want to get rid of. Fold your "riddance" as small as possible and seal it with tape, stickers, glue or what-have-you. Your partner will not open this riddance.

Here is the especially magic part of this swap: when your partner receives your packet and finds the sealed-up "riddance" among the rhyme, rune and all the other charming little goodies, they will destroy the bad thing for you. For example, in my house we heat with wood, so I will put the riddance I receive from my partner into the fire. You could put the thing through a shredder, bury it in the ground, compost it, grind it up in the garbage disposal. Whatever you do, honor your partner by not opening her "riddance" and by destroying it totally!

So here is the recap: 3 written things a Rhyme and Rune on decorated papers a folded up and sealed Riddance and some fun magical/witchy flat goodies these could be: stickers, spells, feathers, charms, recipes, washi, tarot or oracle card singles, handmade items what ever you would like to include! This should all be sent in a decorated envelope!

I will vet closely the participants in this swap and please PM with any questions you have! Thank you !!

Last year, I buried the riddance on the edges of a graveyard and asked the spirits of the deceased to help get rid of it.
