Description:

This is my first time hosting a swap, but its a simple one, so it should be fine :)

This swap is for people who have paper punches, and they dont want to swap them but they can use them to create tiny punched papers , so its a very cheap swap.

you will have 2 partners to whom you will send a decorated matchbox (the small kind) filled with colorful punched papers (the inside figure or the outside leftover of the paper). Try to choose nice papers and to use nice punches. you can also punch other materials if you like (polymer clay/fimo for example, explainations in page 3 here: http://www.sculpey.com/Projects/PDF/SCRAPBOOK%20PROJECT.pdf)

This is an international swap, newbies with complete profile and members with 4.5+ rating are welcome.

I hope my english was clear enough, and you will join! take a paper and start punching!

this sounds easy enough, i spend so much time punching out small left over pieces of pretty papers that ordinarily would be thrown away,so I am looking forward to passing some along :)

What a great idea, easy, fast, inexpensive, simple and really no need to look at profiles and figure out the best items for your partner, as every one can use the punches. Love it can't wait, I love the Web site wish I had found it earlier. Faye

wow tsampa,

I was just thinking about doing a paper punch swap! There are so many out there!

I just got a couple of new ones myself, so you know I'm in!

tsampa 05/ 7/2007 #

I am glad you all joined the swap, we have great people! It will be fun :)

"(the inside or the outside)"

Hi! Does this mean that the person can get by with only decorating the outside of the box and not put any punches inside if they choose to do it that way?

I am just wondering about this, as maybe people are expecting to receive a box full of punches and they may end up not?

tsampa 05/ 7/2007 #

serene! No, this is not what I meant, I was afraid I will have problems explaning it... I meant when you punch you can send the inside figure or the outside with the punched figure lines (so it will be a square paper with a "hole" inside".... the matchbox should be full! how can I explain it better?

thanks,

noa

How big a matchbox are you expecting? One of the dmall ones, or a big one? Etayne

Etayne 05/12/2007 #

small ones, even! (typo)

tsampa 05/12/2007 #

Etayne - The small one, but if you want to use the bigger one I am sure your partner will be happy :)

I will update the swap to make sure everybody understand it

fandrea and missamy, your packages were mailed today. Please let me know when you receive them. Enjoy!

By the way, for US swappers, please share with me how you have mailed your package out, particularly in light of the USPS' price increases. For example, it was $1.13 to mail a 0.6 oz matchbox swap across the country, but $1.07 to mail a 1.0 oz package to Hungary! Go figure!

I'm told it was not only a simple fare increase, but a classification change as well. So, what qualified as a simple first class envelope last week is now a parcel post envelope this week (a matchbox won't fit through the "letter" feeder and thus is a parcel now). Is that what you have encountered, or was my friendly neighborhood postal worker pulling a fast one on me?

TriviumLady 05/15/2007 #

Clarification

OK, I think I understand this now. A first class letter ($0.41 for the first ounce, $0.17 for each additional ounce) can be no more than 1/4 inch thick. When it exceeds this thickness, it becomes a package ($1.13 for the first ounce, $0.17 for each additional ounce). There are other factors involved in the classification process, but I think that this is the most pertinent one as it pertains to matchbox swaps.

Essentially, a matchbox when mailed is no longer a letter, but a package. This has thus doubled the cost of mailing a matchbox swap out, at least domestically.

TriviumLady - though I am not from the US I am sorry to here about your posting changes... In this swap it could be possible to send the items in a flat envelope beacuse this is only paper, but in other swaps it could be problematic to flatten stuff....

well, I guess for other americans if you wish, you could flatten the decorated matchbox and put the punches in a small bag (but put enough to fill the whole box!). it would keep it in a "letter" category I think
