Celebrating Independence via Emails #1

Celebrate the shared history of independence from British colonialism by participating in this email swap! This swap is all about honoring our countries’ journeys to freedom and showcasing the unique aspects of our cultures. Participants will send an email to 3 partners that feature something representative of their country—whether it’s a national landmark, a cultural symbol, traditional attire, or anything that highlights the beauty of your nation.

As Malaysia’s Independence Day is on August 31st, I thought that it’s a particularly fitting time to create this global exchange and share the pride we feel in our countries’ rich histories.

Email Requirements:

• Attach an image that features something significant from your country, such as a landmark, cultural symbol, or anything that represents your nation’s identity.

• In the body of the email, write a letter to your partner and share about what independence means to you or an interesting fact about your country’s journey to independence.

Rules:

• Be respectful and considerate of the diverse experiences and histories shared.

• Send the emails individually, or use BCC (blind carbon copy) when emailing multiple partners.

• Rate your partners a 5 if you have received an email that meets the swap requirements.

• Communicate with your swap partner if you encounter any delays or issues.
