Description:

This was an old high school creative writing lesson I loved doing. The basic principle of the lesson was to create a short story starting with a sentence provided.

You just need to start off the first paragraph of your story with ONE of the following sentences.

====Here are the sentences you will be working with.=====

For a brief moment, I sat there in silence terrified for my life.

I opened my eyes to see him standing next to me with a coy smirk on his face as if nothing ever happened.

Running down the streets of our town, The strange creature shrilled and howled in a odd manner as If someone frightened it.

As I opened the discolored envelope, There was an eerie silence in the room.

I wasn't sure how I was going to pull this off, but I had too, or else I would never see ("insert name name") again.

The hardest part of writing is the first sentence and tying up loose ends.I did half the hard work for ya, so let's see some creative writing!

Story- should be at least 1 page long with resolution to events taking place in your story. It should be as legible as you can make it. Grammar isn't a must, but should be fluid and coherent enough to understand. Huked on phoniks doezn't werk 4 every1!

ratings to join: Your rating should be high and have at least one trade to join. I will be looking through them and banning recent 3's. If you were unfairly rated, then please contact me and i'll decide from there.

Tips:Look through your partner's profile to get ideas for your story. See what genre they read and try to incorporate that into your writing.

(optional)

bonus things to include:

Draw a picture, atc card, or include something in your letter from the story you wrote.(ie- The main character died in your story with a brochure to a grand resort he had been saving for. you could include that in your letter to set the mood.)

Audio: a mixed cd to set the mood, or perhaps your story is best told campfire style rather written.

I look forward to this swap and hearing about your creations.

If you're talking about making it legible, I presume it has to be hand-written, and not typed?

PrivateDean 06/13/2009 #

Yea, If you can. If you do chicken scratch then probably best to print it out. My main concern with it being typed is people copy and pasting others people's work and just being plain lazy. Most people won't steal works if they have to take the time and actually write it out. Thats just my thought.

Okey Dokey! I don't do chicken scratch, so my partner will easily be able lto read it. Can't wait!

On my watchlist! I rocked at this exercise in high school, but, uh... that was quite a while ago. :P

On my watchlist. I love that you used Ray Harryhausen for the pic!

Why would you imagine someone might plagerize for the sake of a swap where there's no pay, no reputation to be made, nothing at all to gain except the expeience of actually imagining and writing a story? What pay off? AllI see is loss of time and opportunity.

June and I both like to type our writings,.But if we must. I do have a good handwriting but thoughts come quicker typing them down.

for those who need a little help. :)

Ladydy5, I suggest typing it out first to edit and re-edit until you are satisfied and then jot it down on paper :)
