Description:

Welcome to the Christmas tradition pickle swap. Pickle, pickle, whose got the pickle? Hide a pickle ornament in your Christmas tree on Christmas eve and the first person to spot it in the morning gets an extra surprise from under the tree.

Feel free to use any medium of your choice: fabric, felt, knitting, crochet, clay, papier mache',...just please make a 3 dimensional pickle and not just a paper cutout.

Small print...

No newbies!

Swappers with 15 completed/rated craft related swaps welcome. No recent or unexplained no-sends. I reserve the right to ban. Thoughtful, reliable swappers who have the courtesy and time to follow thru only.

Please be kind and include your swapbot username and the name of the swap so you can easily be rated properly. Non raters will be listed as such.

Flakers will be listed in the forums and unwelcome in future swaps. Flakers are not fun. If you have been flaked/not received and need an angel, please go rate your partner a 1- no send then come to me. I will no longer angel swaps that aren't rated appropriately in a timely manner. Thanks for your understanding.

Important points...

Be my guest! Come join the fun! Be a swap friend! Have fun!

Go ahead and get busy on your pickle as soon as you sign up! I made the send time date with plenty of time for it to arrive before xmas.

I can start an Int'l version if there is enough interest. We did this last year. I hid it so good they couldn't even find it! Finally my son found it and scored a 1 lb. box of See's nuts & chews. num nummy! It was fun! We want to do it every year now!

Putting this on my watch list. I want to be sure I can come up with something cute before I join. We always have a glass pickle on our tree, but creating one by hand sounds like so much more fun!

Yes! I loved this last year and I'm excited you're doing the swap again, myrrhmaid!!

Houston, we have a pattern. :))

Trace or print onto paper, adding a 1/4" seam allowance. Stitch all the way around the pickle-right sides together leaving 2" gap in the back to turn/stuff. Pin a ribbon for a hanger on the inside to be sewn into the top. Clip curves. Turn right side out. Stuff firmly patting the stuffing down with your finger or the eraser end of a pencil. Pin opening shut, whip stitch closed. Add hanger if you didn't do so earlier and embellish with beads, sequins, embroidery-whatever suits your fancy!

Okay, I made a crochet pickle from this site:
http://notwithoutlove.wordpress.com/2008/10/05/dilly-pickle/

I do not know how to link. Anyone that can explain it to me - I'd be so grateful.

Anyway, it's weird, but I did it. I will sign up as the date gets closer.

I extended the sign-up day by a few days. I hope it doesn't cause anyone any inconvenience.

myrrhmaid 10/21/2009 #

I hope it's weird in a good way! :))

Welcome to the swap, everybody! Please be kind and send on time! Even tho Thanksgiving is sandwiched in between our send by dates, I would really hope we all get this out so it can arrive in time for Christmas. I can't guarantee I can angel this before xmas if flaked and that would suck. This is a non-sucky swap! :)P If you are able to get a picture of your pickle and post it here on this thread, (or a link to a picture) you will get a surprise profile badge! Thanks for coming out to swap! Let me know of any concerns or considerations needed a.s.a.p. I am at PM's reach. Thanks for being swap friends! oxo Laura
