I'm just starting my very first altered book and I'm learning as I'm going. I thought it would be fun to get some inspiration through supplies and swap ideas! For this swap we'll be sending supplies to help your partner with their altered book project. If you're not familiar with altered books and would like to start one, here's a good site: http://gomakesomething.com/category/ht/ab/ basically you take an old hardbound book (like a dictionary from a garage sale) and create your own "book" by adding whatever you want to it. You can paste your own pictures inside, cut out sections to hold 3-D items etc. There's no rules!!! Here's the details for this swap! You will list below the colors and theme of the altered book you're making below in the comments section. Please try not to be super specific, broad is better like: Victorian/vintage with browns, pinks and golds (you get the idea) You will STUFF a 4x7 inch bubble envelope (or bigger) with supplies for your partner from the theme they have listed below. Supplies are anything you can use to alter a book: glue, paint, sand paper, ribbon, fabric bits or lace, charms, vintage photos, items to collage, post cards, tags, brads, beads, small hinges, tiny metal embellishments, pens, markers, stencils, x-acto knife or blades, etc The possibilities are endless! NO JUNK You will also include a happy little note for your partner. It can include tips or ideas or just a simple nice greeting. Note: I will be checking profiles. Newbies are welcome, but must have a COMPLETE profile, not just a few paragraphs.

I am altering a book into a Mystic/fortune telling theme. think along the lines of gypsies, crystal ball, tarot cards, zodiac, palm reading, natural elements and any colors in jewel tones. Thanks!

I love altering books and have many going at the same time. I tend toward Victorian and earth tones or metallics. No bright, kid-like stuff.

Awesome idea!

I am making an altered photo album/personal history journal titled "My Own Fairy Tale". Would love imagery from folksy/gothic fairy tales, (more Brothers Grimm/old-world style than cutesy/ princessy, if that makes sense), imagery from 70's and 80's children's story books, anything with crowns/coat of arms/royalty, "retro" colors (red, orange, olive green, mustard gold, brown, dark teal) and any scraps or embellishments along these lines. I know this sounds super-specific, but really I can use just about anything! Thanks so much!

I am making an altered book with photos of my children,grandchildren and Greats...total 20.I am making it vintage,such as Pooh and friends,Betrix Potter,old fairy tale(3 pigs,goldielocks) also Oz and Alice,just nothing modern.If you don't have images?think teastained,burntedges...anything old.I am looking forward to this swap..Thank you for hosting!Great idea!
