Description:

All SWAPPERS will be challenged to go to your local craft store/craft aisle like in Walmart, etc. Only using the CLEARANCE section, you must find one item from each of the following categories:

  1. Metal- (example: tags, brads, eyelets)
  2. Plastic- (example: buttons)
  3. Sticky- (example: stickers, glue)
  4. Flat- (example: papers)
  5. 3-D- (example: Jolies by You)
  6. Rubbery- (example: rubber stamps)
  7. Holiday - (any thing that is Holiday related)

You MUST buy these items from the CLEARANCE AISLE ONLY. If this is something you purchased in the past, and it falls into one of the categories, you can use it IF it still has the clearance sticker on the package. The Scavenger Hunt items must be NEW, in the package, unless it doesn't come in one (like a rubber stamp.) Remember, do not remove any tags or stickers. I need to see how cheap you are!

You must provide ONE item from each category. You CANNOT use Christmas Buttons for both plastic and Holiday. It has to be one or the other!

If you CANNOT find all of these items in your clearance section, then you need to scout out a dollar store, or a BIG LOTS. These need to be inexpensive! That's the other challenge part of this SWAP.

Keep your receipts. KEEP all tags and stickers on all packaging. Whomever buys ALL of the above Scavenger Hunt items, and spends the least amount of money, gets a bonus surprise from me! I will be keeping a tally of who has spent what. When all SWAPS have been received, I will announce the amount spent, and the winner of the challenge!

I am taking a spot in this one. Sounds to fun to not participate!

Keep in mind, the things you buy should be things that a Scrapbooker or Crafter would want to use. Don't buy it because it was the cheapest thing. Who wants flourescent green metal numbers? Somebody might, but that would not be a typical thing someone would want to use.

Rules are:

  1. Send all of your clearance items in one large ziploc bag, along with all clearance stickers/tags intact on all packaging. Some items don't have price tags, and aren't marked, for example, scrapbook paper, so this will be on the honor system if you just let me know how much you paid. I have seen these papers on clearance for 10 cents, so it is not unheard of.

If you have any questions, please contact me here, or directly.

This is a crazy idea, but it will be a thrilling challenge.

I don't understand. There are 3 partners and 7 items to be bought. You say that in turn each person will get one item from each catagory but if there are 3 partners that means each person will receive 3 items from each catagory.

In addition to the above question (which I am also confused on), I'm also wondering if it would be following the rules if similar items were both plastic and holiday, but you include two, one for each catagory? (Eg: a holiday flocked plastic item, one for holiday, a second for plastic catagory)

Or are you looking for more variety to be included in the swap?

Cloverst and krysanya (and all),

I think BlueCrayons*Lips0ffire wants us to send 7 items to three partners, so we will be sending 21 in total. But that sounds a bit excessive; perhaps we can send only one partner this set of 7 items? Perhaps this can be clarified/reduced...

Also, I think she said that we cannot use one item for two categories.

By the way, is this US only or international?

bluecrayons 05/26/2007 #

Im sorry.. i was thinking more then i was suppose to. it will be one partner only. and its 7 items. one from each category.....

ty for joining.

us and international is great...

This sounds like fun, just wish there was more time for it. If you do another one in the future, I will join then. I absolutely LOVE bargain hunting for craft supplies.
