Description:

Here's a swap I haven't seen yet, and it'll be fun for both sides! (I know the description is long but I decided to go ahead and fully describe a Mad Lib.. please read! ^_^)

You'll create two mad libs to send off, one for each partner!!!

If you don't know what a mad lib is.. You create a story with words left out of it. Your partner will add their own words into those blanks (without reading your story), and then read it, it normally turns out very silly and hilarious!!!

Here is a very short example of what you would create:

One morning in the ______(Noun) there was a/an ______ (adjective) wolf waiting very patiently for his ______ (Noun).

You'll also have another piece of paper with the blanks (in order as they are in your story) like this:

______ Noun ______ Adjective ______ Noun

Your partner won't read the story just yet.. They will fill out the blanks on the paper without the story with any crazy words they want.

Then you go back and insert them into the story. It normally ends with a hilarious paragraph for me!

So my partner for this sentence could come up with something crazy like "One morning in the (barn) there was a (blue) wolf waiting very patiently for his (pencil). Wacky huh?

:) Me and my husband do mad libs all the time!

Anyways, I know it sounds kind of complicated, but it's not. All you need to know is basic English!

It will be lots of fun to create a story for someone else! Make it as crazy as you like! I'm going to say minimum of 15 fill in the blank spots in your story, but more is always fun!

*Remember - * Noun: Person, place or thing Verb: Action Adjective: Describes something, like red, or angry Adverb: Usually ends in "ly" like quickly or smoothly

You can also do wacky fill in the blanks like "Part of the Body" Or "Loud Sound" or "Something You'd Yell" Or be a little more specific like "Animal" or "Person in the room" or "Your Favorite Sport"

If you need further help or examples, let me know ;) Hope we get a lot of joiners!

Newbies are welcome, but please please don't flake out (that means to not send anything to your partner). How would you feel if you were expecting something and never got it?

Glad to see people joining!! :)

Ok, this sounds fun, but I don't understand, do we then mail the paragraphs back to the original writer or keep them ourselves?

jordansmomtp 07/18/2009 #

forgive me if I'm asking a lot of questions but this is my first swap on here. If partners are assigned, then do we just pick 2? And if so, how will we know if everyone gets a swap?

StephanieFromTN 07/18/2009 #

What you'll do is create two mad lib stories along with the second paper with the blanks for them to fill out, then once the sign up date is past, Swap bot automatically picks which two you will send to (sorry, we don't get to pick). Send them off, and you will get a mad lib from two other partners in the swap.

You fill out the blank paper with whatever words you want, then insert your words in their mad lib story that they sent you!

It's hard to explain over the internet. If anyone else can word it any better, please do :)

If you still don't understand Jordansmomtp, let me know and I'll try harder.

Thanks Stephanie, I do understand it much better, and also about the partners, but 1 last question....after we insert our words into the their story do we mail it back to them or just keep it??

StephanieFromTN 07/19/2009 #

Just keep it :) Sometimes we even make another sheet of paper with the blanks and ask others to put in their own words, so it makes a whole new complete silly story!

Can we send the same mad lib to both partners, or do we need to write 2 different ones?

Amorina 07/20/2009 #

A good way to do it is make it a card. You cut out slots in the cover for the partner to write the words there, and then he/she can read the story when the card is open.

Oooh! A great idea Amorina!!! I've never thought of that!!!!

Yes you can use the same two stories :)
